My family were merchants, and I spent most of my life studying in the academy (Magic focus)

You remember the long lectures, heated debates, and crushing homework of the academy. You've been studying as long as you can remember, and it's honestly a wonder your eyes still work fine after all that reading you've done in dim light.
Your family was a merchantile one and they were hard set on you being the next head of the household... at least, they were until your little sister was born. The stress about being a successor waned a bit, and you took that bit of freedom to dream of a lot more freedom than being chained to a desk all day, as either a secretary or a merchant. You dabbled a bit more beyond the academy's basic magic lessons and realized you had a knack for it, though you weren't particularly powerful.

You might not have had any worthwhile adventures in your life so far, but thanks to how you've been raised, you're at least confident that you can hold your own with your skills in magic. Specifically, with your basic [mage hand] to move objects around without touching them, [Water control] to be able to shape and control water to an extent, and [Flare], one of the more basic fire spells.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much more magical knowledge available to a commoner out in the sticks, but you're sure you can pick up more once you're an adventurer.
You also have a decently filled purse with 220 crowns that should last you some time.

"You seem excited," you hear the person sitting next to you call out. "An academic like you, looking to be an adventurer?"

You didn't regard the stranger before, and she's not said anything for the whole ride, so you wonder why she's talking to you now.

"Oh, don't look at me like that, I couldn't help but ask. It's clear as a bell that you're new to the capital, isn't that right?"

Not entirely sure what to say, you affirm her. "Ah, I could tell~ Well, I mostly wanted to tell you that you should be really careful about who you trust, there are plenty of thieves and scammers looking to prey on young excited travellers like you. You seem a bit weak, so I'm worried someone might try to kidnap you, but you-"

Once she started talking, she wouldn't stop, she was a regular chatterbox and you didn't quite listen to everything she said. It was clear that she seemed to be talking from a genuine place, at least, so it's hard to just hush her.
