Mouse hunting

"It's just one little mouse." Kayla said to herself as she walked around the hotel corridors, her high-heeled shoes clicking on the tiled floor, "I can handle one mouse, no problem."

She had been told that catching the rogue mouse was her number one priority, so as soon as she had swapped her threadbare old jeans and shirt for a uniform of grey skirt suit with matching waistcoat, white blouse and gold necktie, she had begun her patrol of the hotel, eyes alert for any signs of the mouse. She had been told that as far as anyone knew it was only one that had taken up residence, so Kayla felt certain this would be an easy job.

A shrill scream rang out from up the corridor, so Kayla put on a burst of speed and ran towards the sound. Or she tried, but not being used to walking in heels, let alone running, she made it three tottering steps before falling on her face.

She stumbled back to her feet, slipped off her shoes and carried them towards the sound.
