Mothers blessings
The two walked down the stairs and stepped into the kitchen. They were met by Michaels parents sitting at the dining table. Doing his best not to react to the knowing smiles of his moms and dad, Mich took an available seat with Jess on his right side. The pair sat in silence as Katreen passed them plates of biscuits and sausage gravy. When Jessica accepted her plate with her left hand the morning sun shone on the ring on the finger. Suddenly, the young woman found herself dragged out of her chair and into a hug by Katreen and Kemeyo, while Chelcy grabbed her som in a similar hug. Happy tears flowed and the Amazon mothers spoke over each other in a jumble that was unintelligible but clearly happy.
When the two had been sufficiently hugged and fawned over by the three mothers they were allowed to return to their seats and start eating. There was a happy glow around the table. Michael was actually somewhat surprised, his parents looked like they were ecstatic about his and Jessica’s decision to bond. His dad was watching with a warm smile. Michael felt his heart warm watching his mothers and fiancé interact. He had herd the stories, mothers refusing to accept engagement, driving couples to elope or break up. Though, as he thought about it he suddenly had a moment of clarity. All those times when their parents had ensured they had time together. The family vacations taken together the trading of babysitting. He realized they had been set up.
He thought for a moment, was he upset? His best friend from his oldest memories had become his girlfriend as they came of age and now his fiancé and hopefully wife. Their families had seen them grow together and allowed them to grow together. All on balance he was actually grateful.
“So son, do you and Jess still share the desire to join the hunter association?”
“Yes dad, we both want to enroll in the summer training program in a couple weeks. We both want to have some adventures outside the city walls.”
Michael saw the old concern in his fathers eyes. His father was no pacifist, but he was not one to seek conflict either. His dad was the kind of quiet behind the scenes man who kept their society running.
Michael would probably going to settle down into his own quiet corner, but first, he wanted to get out and see some more of the world. Plus his harem only had Jessica in it, though finding more women of Jess’s quality would be quite the challenge and that change would get harder if he stayed in the city.
