Chapter 3 by Admira Admira

So, now what?

Morgan goes a little overboard

Tears ran down my face as I laughed, rubbing my hand against the smooth skin of my face.

It was like the floodgates had opened, I tore off my clothes and euphoria filled me when all the hair on my body disappeared. I kept going, one by one all the blemishes and imperfections on my skin were gone. Every little scar from acne, accidents, and 'accidents' healed. Every little freckle or mole, the occasional callus, all gone.

I evened out my tan like I'd spent months nude sunbathing. The Ring getting warmer with each little change.

Then, I went too far.

I gasped in pain when I removed the gut I'd been growing since highschool, it was like pressing my hand against a hot car.

"Wait! Slow down, do too much and you'll hurt yourself."

I didn't listen.

I needed to fix my body. Twenty-three years and it would finally feel correct, like it belonged to me. I liked being strong, but the muscles were too big, my shoulders too wide and my chest the wrong shape.

Instead of getting rid of them I wished to make them smaller and denser, I'd be even stronger than before. I slimmed down until I looked more like a gymnast than a wrestler. My hand spasmed and cramped up into an agonized claw, I fell boneless to the tile of my bathroom floor with an aborted scream.

I heard someone slow clapping.

"Congratulations, Morgan. Your the 371st Ringmaster to immediately go too far without quite causing permanent damage." She said with a flat stare and the driest voice I had ever heard.

"Wha-" *cough* "How many Ringmasters have there been?"

She counted on three fingers, "2,795 and three-quarters."

"Three-quarters? How the fuc-" She waved her hands ," I don't wanna talk about it, still a bit of a mindscrew, even for me." She had a bit of a thousand-yard stare then shook her head.

"Now, you need to not change anything for at least a day, then stick to more cosmetic changes for at least a week to build up your strength if you want to enjoy being a Ringmaster for more than a few days. Got it?"

I huffed out a laugh at the dissonance between her stern teacher's pose and the pale, white haired woman's outfit of nothing but delicate silver chains, defying gravity as she hovered upside down.

I saw the Ring at the corner of my eye and froze.

I pushed away the little bit of glee at how my hand was already almost dainty just from shifting my muscles around. I shivered as I watched the black veins stretching from my finger to just past my wrist slowly recede, pulsing with a foreign heartbeat. I swallowed uncomfortably when my hand barely twitched when I tried to make a fist.

"Don't change too much at once, got it." I slumped a little. "Uhh, what did you say your name was again?"

She rolled her eyes.

You can call me Regina, Ringmaster
