More of a show

You were made aware of your surroundings once again, quickly checking just to make sure that nobody had seen that your teacher had taken a widely inappropriate selfie to send to you, one of her students, before walking towards the house again.

It didn’t take you long to get home now that you were rushing but you stopped yourself from heading inside just as you reached for the handle and instead walked around the back. An idea had crossed your mind and it felt like it would be too late to do it if you ended up interacting with everyone once you got inside. Instead, you made it to the back yard and sat yourself down on one of the outdoor chairs you had, giving yourself some semblance of privacy without having to go to your room. You at first worried that anyone inside might see you but you found yourself sitting in a blind-spot from the windows and counted yourself lucky.

Bringing out your phone, you read over the details of the effect you were wanting to use.

Eye of the Beholder -

Allows the user to view through a selected Subject's eyes for 10 minutes or less after activating. User cannot influence the Subject’s actions directly during this time and can cancel the effect whenever they wish.

Further details -

User may select any subject to use the effect but each subject can only be viewed through, once per day. User may look through the eyes of any number of subjects they wish to view but this may cause mental fatigue if used in rapid succession. Caution advised with first usage.

Knowing that Rebecca had been posing for you and that you still needed to reply, you wanted to see what she would do when she got your message. You planned out what you were going to say in a notes app and copied it so that you could instantly send it to her while using the effect, hoping the mental strain wouldn’t be too much given that you had used the effect before.

You clicked the icon on Rebecca’s profile and were greeted with the usual prompt to confirm your choice.

The initial wave of vertigo hit as you were pulled towards your new vision but you had already sat yourself down knowing this would happen, the rapid change taking a lot less time to get used to than you did last time.

Rebecca had moved from wherever her mirror had been to now be standing in her bedroom, staring at some clothes that she had placed on her bed as if she was still trying to pick out an outfit for tonight. The fact that she was still in the lingerie she had shown you earlier was something you could see as she stared down at the rest of her clothes, still in her underwear as she was in between what to try.

With your phone in hand, you were able to navigate to Rebecca in your contacts and paste the message you had already had planned, hearing the notification pop up on Rebecca’s phone and watching as she instantly turned towards her phone.

She had placed it off to one side of the clothes laid out across her bed but she completely disregarded them in order to reach for her phone, even crawling over the clothes just to reach it just that little bit faster.

Max: You do know I opened that just as I was getting home right? It’s like you timed it perfectly to send me an incredibly sexy picture just when I thought I was safe! So you better be wearing that when I next see you!

You heard her let out a small chuckle to herself as she read your message which was a strange but cute sound to hear when you were looking through her eyes.

There hadn’t been any intention other than potentially seeing her getting undressed/dressed so you were happy to keep your message at just that. You could see Rebecca debating whether to send you a message back or not but her eye-line kept going back to the dresses as she struggled to figure out which she was going to wear.

Rebecca: I guess you’ll have to wait and see ;)

She kept the message short and you could tell that she would have wanted to talk more if she wasn’t getting distracted by her clothes, letting you reply back with a heart reaction pretty quickly and letting the conversation end there.

You still had plenty of time left before the 10 minute window ended so instead of just cutting the connection, you braced yourself against the chair and tried standing up while still watching Rebecca move around her apartment. It was disorientating at first but you were able to wait it out and get used to it, next attempting to take a few steps in the hopes of improving again.

That almost made you fall over as your equilibrium changed when you watched Rebecca start walking around her bed, the differences between the two of you making you want to brace yourself against her bed that clearly wasn’t actually there for you.

You stopped walking and centred yourself for a minute as you could feel yourself getting better at controlling both visions at once. Closing your eyes completely showed what Rebecca was seeing but when you opened them, you had a sense that you could switch between the two or even layer them over one another.

A smile spread on your face as you considered this was almost like having a super power of your own. Sure the KDK was already in the realms of fantasy but as this was something you were learning to control, it felt more like something of your own rather than something controlled by the app.

A brief vision of you running a secret spy agency and being able to see through the eyes of anyone in the world ran through your brain but actually following through with that plan was very far down your to-do list while you were having enough trouble managing your own life as it was now.

Although shaking hands with someone famous just to see a glimpse of how they lived their life would also be fun…

You took yourself out of your fantasies and tried walking once again, taking a few cautionary steps before you sped up and could walk around the yard without much problem. To avoid looking like a weirdo for much longer while you walked in circles, you headed back around to the front of the house and went to unlock the door.

Having to actually put your key into the lock took some finer motor control than you had first expected but you were able to get it eventually and it was easier locking the door behind you as you rapidly improved using this effect that was starting to become second nature.

You dropped your bag at the bottom of the stairs before walking further into the house trying to see who was around, hearing noises from coming in the kitchen but checking the other rooms downstairs just in case you spotted someone.
