As Max ran down the back alleys, searching for some place to lie low for a while,

she could hear pursuing footsteps behind her.

"Oh shit." She said to herself, and hoped in vain that they wouldn't tell her to stop.

"Stop, you bitch!" one of the men behind her shouted.

"Aww, hell!!!" She thought, as she was **** to stop.

"You hurt that man..." said a new, sinister voice. "And now I intend to make you pay. Now turn around, SLOWLY." Max turned, and saw a man in a black highwayman overcoat with greasy black hair. "It is my responsibility to make sure that there are no loose ends." Max stood for a moment, mulling over what he said, when it came to her suddenly.

"You work for Manticore, don't you, you bastard!" She cried.

"As a matter of fact, yes." the man replied nastily. "And I am very aware of what has been done to you. My name is Bane, and I have a feeling that we will know each other very well before I turn you over to Lydecker."
