Chapter 92 by Akula
What's Happening Elsewhere?
More Errands
Right.
Town maps, a couple of books on materials, blueprints, and more on mythology if they had it. Then, meet up with Jess. Simon held out his hand as he marked each of his checklists with a finger and climbed up the library steps.
It wasn't busy today for a Friday, thankfully. He wouldn't run into anyone scrambling at the last minute for finals or projects if he was lucky. Kevin's "Secretary" Kim, was less distracted than Kim Littlewood had been with Jessica. The transformed Mr. Myers was already getting results as she repeatedly texted about steps that needed to be taken and confirmed what he wanted to be done.
It was hard to think about the fact that the Korean woman had once been one of the most influential people in town. Simon stopped and paused as he thought about it in his head as he texted Kevin the question.
'So, have you ever had sex with Myers?'
The answer was almost immediate,
'Nooooo? Why are you asking?'
Robotically, the young man quickly responded as he stared at the screen,
'Does it put you off because she's supposed to be Jess' clone or because she used to be Brad?'
Kevin seemed to take some time, as the dots on the phone were present for over a minute,
'Why the actual fuck are you asking me about this now? Did your 'girlfriend' put you up to this?'
'No. Just curious after I was over. I mean, she WAS SUPPOSED to be your 'Replacement' wasn't she?'
'Quit being a weirdo, you ass. -_-’
Simon shook his head as he sighed. He walked through the doors and around to the main stairs to find the archives on the second floor as his phone vibrated again. He stopped to glance at the screen,
'So she was always like that with you before?'
Kevin's question confused the awkward teenager,
'Who/What do you mean? o.o'
'You know who and WHAT I mean. Those stories you had. When you both were little was she always so CLINGY to you like that, obsessed AF?'
Simon smirked with a hum as his memory flashed him back to his childhood years with a blonde girl leading him by the hand with a smile or jumping him when she ran through the front door.
'Yeah. As long as I can remember she was always around. Lots of Hugs. Her parents didn't spend time with her, so she spent it with me instead. We talked about it a lot lately for obvious reasons. Why?'
He had to wait for a while for his phone to vibrate again. By then, the awkward teenager was overlooking a map of the high school complex and another of the town around it. With a copy of a town map, he took a screenshot with his tablet and began marking down various locations. Once the small device buzzed in his pocket, the conversation with Kevin continued,
'I hate the fact that it makes sense. I can't stand thinking about that. You should be pissed.'
'Why should I be pissed? o.o'
'Dude. She was your closest childhood friend, she doesn't even know why you stopped being so close, and when she finally remembers she's so in love with you that she's willing to have sex IN FRONT OF ME to prove it. You two were so fucking close that it triggered your demented ass to go to therapy and become my friend. Then watch the two of us hate each other for the last near-decade. You're telling me it doesn't bother you that you have no fucking clue why it happened?'
'I have her now. I don't need to worry about it.'
'OFFS, Simon. Don't give me that. Knowing your property I bet it bugs the fuck out of her. When's the last time her highness let anything go that bothered her? I bet if I taunt her with it once, she'd go ballistic. That's how sure I am that she's being eaten alive by it. And I know you too, buddy. Even if you're happy now, I bet it gnaws at you too. Thought about wishing to know why?'
'I would be lying if I said no.'
Simon grimaced as he thought about the nagging issue of Jessica's mental block on their friendship. There were more significant issues, but Kevin had a point. It was a mystery that wouldn't go away.
'I've spent years asking myself that question. But then again, I do have her back, and I don't have to explain what that means to you after this morning. :P'
A middle finger emoji appeared in his replies before Kevin decided to text again. Simon sighed as he looked at his text messages and then asked his friend a question,
'Did you really have to name her Kim?'
'Why does THAT bother you?'
'It's Miss Littlewood's name.'
'LMAO. Nope. You know two hot chicks named Kimmy. Deal with it.'
Then there was a follow-up as Simon finished with his maps,
'It's not exactly like you to do something like me when it comes to teachers. What gives with her anyway?'
'What? She's Jessica's favorite teacher.'
'Uh, yeah? Why do you think I did what I did? That's not exactly rocket science. Why did you do what you did, though?'
Simon sighed and texted back again as he sifted through more books and shelves. It was already distracting enough as he attempted to catalog while conversing in the library's silence. He was trying to focus,
'She makes Jess feel better. If that's all she winds up doing, that's enough. I have to look out for her like I do everyone. We have more responsibility now because of what we have now, Kev. Not less.'
'Oh how very noble of you Mr. Machiavelli. I bet I could find a use for her.'
In response, Simon texted a photo of Machiavelli's monument from the Italy trip to his stubborn nerd friend with a smirk,
'Holy Shit.'
Why would Kevin react to that? Simon remembered telling him about his adventure,
'What? You knew that.'
'Not that! I googled her.'
The awkward teen's shoulders slumped as he raised an eyebrow to text back,
'You googled our English Lit teacher?'
The longer this conversation was going on, the more distracted he was getting from his research. The auburn-haired dork recalled his Doctor's statements on rigidity and annoyance,
'You ever google someone after rewriting their life? Given what you're up to you should try it.'
The teenage master rolled his eyes as another text bubble appeared,
'Seriously, though. Look at this shit.'
The tall dork made a mental note to experiment with that later as Kevin sent a link. Simon's eyes widened,
'You're shitting me.'
'No wonder she acts like a repressed good girl when she teaches and dresses the way she does. This explains A LOT.'
Miss Littlewood told Simon and Jessica before that her family was an issue. The genie's teenage Master knew that but didn't know she was related to THOSE Littlewoods.
'I'll add that to my list for later. Need to keep focused on what I'm doing. Talk later.'
The phone went quiet for an uncharacteristic amount of time without a response. Kevin's silence left Simon to stare at his phone and wonder what was happening on the other end of the screen. It shouldn't have taken that long to reply to a TTYL - until an update from the amulet popped up. The familiar gong alert sounded through the teen's silenced phone.
Kevin changed the Mother and Daughter Myers directly related to their previous conversation.
Quickly, the young master's shoulders slumped, and his face went flat. His thumbs being the only parts of his body that responded quickly,
'Really?'
'Like you're one to judge, Inquisitor. Get back to work!'
The teenager sighed as he decided to finish his conversation for another. It had been at least an hour since he started working and finding what he needed. Between the work and the texts, he nearly forgot to do the one thing he told Jess he'd do when dropping her off earlier.
Simon's phone screen quickly flipped from Kevin's contacts to Sam's within the app.
'Hey can you pick up Jess from Miss Littlewood's house? I dropped her off, but she told me she needs a ride to the dance studio. Said you were both doing that today?'
'Uh, yeah. Sure thing.'
Simon paused and remembered how his girlfriend told him. A teasing smile formed on his face,
'I thought you said you quit going there.'
'Whatever. It helps me stay flexible for volleyball! It's not a crime to be in shape Simon! I thought you said you'd both be back for us to watch TV together so we can turn Jessie into a Dork like you.'
'Still planning on it. Don't try and give a bad impression to my girlfriend.'
A quick middle finger and kissing emoji followed as Sam's way of saying they'd talk later. Although, she used to only use the middle finger emoji. The kissing one was probably due to Jess's earlier influence.
It was initially concerning when the genie admitted to using the power the boy had given her on his sister, but it seemed to bring them closer. The young master's thoughts turned to memories of another young girl who had been with him throughout childhood. It was one of the qualities that both best friends and now-popular girls of Eastlake shared. While her fiery temper, competitive nature, and spirit had always been, Sam also had other sides to her, as all people did.
Though torturous and often bordering on **** at times from the resentment, there were brief intervals where they could be close. Where Sam allowed the eternal guard to drop and reveal the true face of the redhead. The one where Simon experienced the briefest flashes of a young girl attached to his hand when the other was attached to the little blonde girl who remained transfixed. Even if bad decisions were made during them, moments together were something that he wanted more of – not less.
A quiet evening would be few and far between, especially if Maridallura reappeared in his bedroom again without warning. The device should be able to log the time displacement and interval between summons, but there was still no way of knowing whether or not it would work.
Not knowing was more anxiety-inducing than anything else. A magically bound vow would help with security. How it protected the secret of their forbidden visits was less critical if it worked. Simon knew they couldn't afford to get caught, at the very least, by the Master of Jessica's Mother.
Still, the thought clung to him in the back of his mind since the dream-vision he received from the wish in frustration. A genie had seen and yelled at him, but whether or not the ruby-eyed Djinn in the sand knew it was him remained a mystery. As was the result of that battle.
It continued to claw at the back of the teenager's obsessive mind as he found the town maps, the documents, and items necessary for his plan, the blueprints of the high school, and the areas around it. If this were to work, it was going to require a combination. Real-world effort and material with magical leeway.
Simon finished and paused as he decided to walk around the library to help clear his head. It was challenging to juggle the importance of his responsibilities with simple ideas while also wanting to spend time with Jess doing things like they used to.
It was obvious now that they were sex-crazed, pushing the boundaries, but sometimes they found it easy to revert to the old ways. The genie was pointing at the television screen that morning, asking questions endlessly, reacting to things a popular girl like the Queen of Eastlake had been cut off to for the first time. As he thought about her reactions, those wide emerald orbs staring at him as he explained things, the way she returned to bouncing on her heels as her arms stuck out at her sides, the way she twirled in place, his eyes paused at the book on the shelf in front of him.
Dune.
Bemused, the young man checked the book out to explain it to his girlfriend if they chose to stream the movie again. Jessica's description afterward of how she and her friends were talked into seeing the film made the sides of Simon's lips curl upward. Yet there was a resonance to it.
He had to push away the voice in his head telling him the similarities to his situation. The mind loved playing tricks on itself.
'The brain is a lawyer, not a computer,' the voice of Dr. Patel reminded with a smile.
The teenager indulged in this instance regardless.
Lady Jessica. The mother who, out of love for Duke Leto, had given birth to Paul Atreides and set the universe ablaze. Undoing the untold centuries of planning and work by an unseen, hidden **** like the all-female Bene Jesserit. Jess would get an absolute kick out of that one. Simon's mind was made up as he put the book in his bag and continued down the stairwell.
The human imagination for science fiction and fantasy was something a dork like him loved. There was a virtue in being creative, while originality is often heralded. Even the history of stories and authors was a foundation laid and built upon. Dune was created on the previous works of others for influence. Many things used Dune as a source of inspiration as well. As with all things, the past helped the present imagine and shape the future, like the myths and lore of Djinn among humans. Even as stories and ideas of genies changed.
Perhaps 'I Dream of Genie' happened in another realm or universe, and the story became television. So many possibilities.
Simon smiled as he thought of Jessica's thoughts calling out to him earlier with Miss Littlewood. His phone dinged as he received a video from his beloved blonde bombshell. The young man continued to walk down as he considered playing it or waiting until later…
That is - Until he tripped into someone.
Having been experienced with tumbles, he grabbed the person – as they twisted and moved nimbly, landing on top of him.
"Ah! I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I can get a bit…."
Simon groaned as the young woman's voice babbled above him as she felt them straddle him on all fours while he remained on his back yet again. She seemed rather sweet about the whole…
…wait a minute.
The awkward teenager raised an eyebrow as he saw the familiar bob cut with blonde highlights, the stylish top with yellow frills, and a familiar face squirm with a nervous smile, and eyes closed,
"Cassie?"
Immediately, the cheerleader and girlfriend's teammate and clique member snapped her eyes open while her face flushed in surprise,
"Ah! S-Simon! Hi!"
Clearly flustered and laughing through a smile, she sprung off him with almost cat-like reflexes. He sat up and began to watch her babble strangely. At least strange for him. Cassie was always comfortable with herself, and the only time before this he had seen her flustered was when he had to use his awkwardness to buy time for Jessica to escape the girl's locker room.
He managed to stand, and immediately, the girl ran up to him,
"S-So, how are you?"
"I'm good. Just working on my project. What're you…."
Another familiar voice, this one male, came out holding his textbook with a heavy sigh,
"Cassie, I can't read your handwriting on this last part. What did you…oh…."
Simon watched Chris' face drop at the sight of him; his eyes widened, and the awkward teen slumped forward with a sigh at the inevitable conversation that was about to happen. He looked at the young woman bouncing on her toes,
"You were catching him up on homework."
"Y-Yeah…."
Well, crap.
Picking up the blonde was more eventful than the redhead initially realized. The news from Miss Littlewood that she'd take over for Varsity Cheerleading was equally astounding. Sam's eyes widened as she saw her English Lit teacher for the first time outside a classroom. The redhead's eyes widened, and she felt her cheeks heat up as she watched the interactions between Jessica's favorite teacher and Miss Littlewood's favorite student.
Jessica Edwards's best friend had seen plenty of interactions the blonde had with others. The closest comparison was the fun-loving stepmother who never acted her age with the heiress. An older sibling that doted or was incredibly close with their younger one. Initially, it freaked her out, but Sam felt at ease when Jessica spoke up.
Whatever it was, her best friend was very good at putting the redhead at ease. Instead of being the homely girl from Pleasantville in a sundress, Miss Littlewood outside class seemed incredibly fun. Seeing her dying her hair pink was a surprise, but the teacher seemed set on the idea. Jessica loved it, especially since it went with a recently updated wardrobe.
Sam laughed and joked about how the woman would get into trouble with attracting some of the male teachers. Then Jessica huffed and whispered into the redhead's ear that their teacher was also Bi-Sexual. Her green-blue eyes widened at the thought, and she immediately laughed at all the poor athletes and male friends at Eastlake who spoke about their attraction to the teacher and wanting to see what was under the sweaters and sundresses.
Eventually, Sam managed to drag Jessica out of her teacher's house so they could get going. The Head Cheerleader and spoiled blonde that Sam's best friend was skipped herself straight into the car's passenger seat. She bounced back quickly for a girl Simon said wasn't feeling well that morning. It was almost as if she had more energy than ever and radiated it through her skin.
Whatever Jessica Edwards was up to all morning definitely put her in a great mood from Sam's point of view. The blonde spent their car ride ranting as she normally did about her issues, which were nothing new. If anything, it made the redhead feel a sense of normalcy to hear the girl blab on endlessly. Annoyingly, it involved her brother and Jessica laughing about how she had lost her voice earlier and had to mime to Simon for her order from one of the girls' favorite hangouts.
However, the blonde was eager to get started by the time they arrived.
Sam watched as her best friend emerged from the changing room; a slender finger quickly tugged at the spandex bikini workout bottoms on her rear end and patted the pink cutoff top over her chest with a hum and a giggle. Jessica had traded another set of leggings for something more fitting of a swimsuit or underwear.
The obvious homage to Eric Prinze's damned Call on Me video made ever more evident as the song played mutedly on the speakers in the studio. Sam had seen it before, sure, but Jessica was almost identically dressed, down to letting her blonde hair curl and spring loosely as her ass swayed playfully in the mirror when she moved to stretch her legs on the railing.
Meanwhile, Simon's redheaded sibling checked the scrunchie of her ponytail and adjusted the sports bra and her volleyball shorts as she stretched her legs on the wooden floor. Jessica hadn't been this glowing in some time, but it kept to the theme of the cheerleader since her eighteenth birthday. As Sam stretched in a pigeon toe position, she looked up as her best friend hummed along,
"You're in a REALLY good mood today."
Jessica's blonde hair bounced to face back at her. Her best friend continued to stretch her legs on the railing with seemingly a head full of bubbles and a giggle at the ready,
"What gave it away?"
Sam continued to lean into her stretches. The volleyball captain switched to her downward dog pose as she watched the blonde's almost inhuman flexibility turn its attention to the floor and her own yoga poses across from her. The site of her best friend's body caused the former cheerleader to remember their last series of interactions, along with waking up topless and half-naked in her brother's room. Everything was blurry and fuzzy after a certain point. She recalled wishing that Simon wasn't her brother at that moment, along with her brother's chest feeling when she slumped into him. Between the blurs, her lips remembered her best friend's feelings as they had before.
And confessing to the dork that both girls had kissed each other before – when she was sober. Sam's cheeks flared as red as the hair on her head as she pictured steam from her ears. The former cheerleader ducked her head away to avoid the gaze with those damned emerald eyes,
"I'm never playing drinking games with you and my brother again…."
Jessica scoffed dismissively,
"Oh, please. Don't deny you had fun."
Fun. If anyone was seemingly having 'fun,' it had been the blonde girl who had crashed at her house with the former cheerleader's brother for the last week. As usual, the cheerleader was happy to get in on the music as she switched to her glute bridges.
Jessica quickly arched her back as she thrust her hips and waist in the air repeatedly from her knees, biting her lip in the process. Sam attempted to keep up but was unable to keep her eyes from watching her best friend, unable to control the smile underneath it or the soft moan as she flexed her ass in the air – biting her lip in the moment,
"I know I did."
Without warning, Samantha Harris had her memory click. There was only one thing that could make Jessica act this way. The utter enjoyment…
'Holy fuck.'
The realization slammed as fast as her hands did on the wooden dance floor. The redhead's overprotective nature caused her eye to twitch as her anger was barely kept back from behind her smile,
"Jess. Are…Are you fucking MY brother?"
The cheerleader scoffed in disbelief and rolled her eyes,
"No, I'm not fucking Master. God, Sammy."
She said it again. That title. The redhead inhaled the air through her nose as the denial sounded even less believable when that was said.
"Uh huh…so why are you still calling him the M word?"
That time, the blonde squeaked and finally stopped her workout, mouth agape as her emerald eyes darted around the room to try and find an answer. She quickly let out a laugh, full of the familiar anxiety and a false smile,
"Uhhhh…I didn't say that! You're hearing things! It was only a game, Sammy! Gosh!"
Sam groaned as she ran a hand through her bangs,
"Jessie, c'mon. You're doing it again…."
"Doing what?"
Her hand nearly slapped against her face as the scheming cheerleader played the dumb blonde act again. The former teammate found herself wanting to smack her – either on the head or spank - but managed to keep her cool,
"I wish you would just talk to me honestly instead of being like this whenever you're trying to hide something!"
Jessica uncharacteristically growled at something she had said. A frown formed on the wannabe Prom Queen's face as she stared off in response. Almost defiant in refusing to answer, lost in thought as her body moved to sit on her knees, hands formed into fists over them,
"Fine. So, what if we were?"
Sam's eyes widened as she had to make sure she heard that right as it was mumbled. Jessica's eyes glanced between the floor and the redhead momentarily.
"What if you were…."
"Fucking," the blonde acknowledged as her embarrassment grew at the word, her posture becoming guarded,
“Me and…Simon….”
The girl almost seemed to struggle even getting her brother's name out of her mouth; her lips pouted, and she spoke softer like a caught child,
"So what if we were doing it? He's my boyfriend. I'm his girlfriend. We're attracted to one another. Why would that be a problem for you, Sammy?"
No way.
The redhead hadn't noticed her jaw hitting the floor in the mirrored wall's reflection as she stared at her best friend's face, now seemingly written in big black Sharpie letters.
Jessica Edwards fucked her brother.
It was no secret to Sam how many times Jessica Edwards had seemingly gone around, but this was different. Simon was her brother! Sure. He was a lunkhead, and they had previously been close. However, he wasn't those other boys, especially not assholes or flings. He was latched onto those he cared about. Jessica should've known better! Especially given their friendship! Simon was set on helping her as the good boy he was, but Jess would've had that wrapped around her finger! Her brother couldn't handle it! Was Jessica so **** to return to her childhood that she'd think it was okay to rush like all her other relationships?
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
She wanted to rip her hair out again and tackle the blonde as the overprotective sibling she saw herself as. Simon was HER brother! She had to look out for him as much as Jess! They were both morons!
"Jessie! You can't sleep with my brother! You know how sensitive he gets when someone touches him! He's going need time to process – not to mention what will happen once your parents and mine find out, and you can't just be so reckless and…ugh! Thinking about Simon having sex just sounds so fucking awkward. Why do you think you can get away with anything?"
Jessica pressed her lower torso forward and spread herself out on her knees without warning, catching Sam off guard as the cheerleader didn't even bother to look up at her.
“We’re both 18…and he’s not like the others…or anyone….”
The camel toe under those spandex bikini bottoms was clearly visible as the blonde tilted her head upward and spoke to her,
"Sammy, I must always do as Simon says."
The redhead felt her face heat up as she saw the arousal glint in her friend's eyes briefly as she smiled, amused by something in her head. Her mind went blank again as she watched the blonde crawl forward until her face was inches away. Sam didn't find anything different about that. Jessica was always getting into someone's personal space when she wanted to. It also wasn't unusual for them either.
"Besides, you don't know what it's like. He's so good at it. You want to talk about senses? I'm at the mercy of his touch and how he possesses my body. I get triggered because he knows exactly where to pinch, squeeze, and stroke. I'm constantly teasing him so he can play with me more. The way he owns me, my body. God! You have no idea how good it feels to have him inside of me once he's done winding me up!"
The redhead laughed,
"Don't you think you're playing it up a bit, Jessie? My brother, the sex fiend? What? Did he make a wish or something?"
After all, they had kissed each other a couple of times. It hadn't really meant anything if….
"Simon… there's a side of him that's waited just for me…because of me. When it's awake, and I feel his eyes on me – on my body – I feel the real me come out. I no longer have to hide from anything or anyone. He takes control, and I submit. I can't begin to describe my feelings to you, Sammy, but once I feel him…nothing else matters. Only him – and only I can have him."
Sam shook her head as she tried to snap herself awake enough to get her jaw to close shut,
"Simon. We're still talking about Simon – my brother – the awkward, clumsy dork who blushes at seeing anything that publicly arouses him. That's who you're talking about?"
Jessica's heavenly look quickly dropped back into an eye roll and groan of annoyance,
"Yes, Sammy. Do you not remember me constantly saying that he could do anything when we were little? Constantly cheering him on? Now that we're both 18, he can really do ANYTHING. You thought I was joking?"
The redhead looked at her friend with a raised eyebrow as her memory flashed back to the younger Jessica saying something to Simon,
"No. I thought you were just being nice to him. I mean, we were only kids! C'mon, Jessie…."
Another image appeared as the hangover threatened to come back. Sam quickly rubbed her palm over her forehead and eyes,
"I wish that didn't apply to the two of you having sex, though. God."
She found her best friend suddenly hovering over her head when she removed the hand. Her emerald eyes locked on her face with curiosity,
"Sammy, if you could actually wish for anything - what would it be?"
The question made the redhead immediately defensive as she huffed through her nose again and shut her eyes. Sam scooted herself away by a foot,
"I'd wish for you to get out of my face first."
"Very funny. I'm serious!"
Sam looked at her friend and sighed as she tried to think about it,
"I mean, I don't know…I kind of…."
Unfortunately, the image of what her best friend described couldn't get out of her head. Neither could her quip about her brother's sexual prowess. Simon good at sex? That's just crazy.
Jessica wasn't saying otherwise, though, so what if it was true?
The two of them being close was no big deal, but if they were that close, bodies together, her brother and her best friend. They would both be off running around doing who knows what. Could she even catch them? Sam's brain suddenly clicked back as the former cheerleader looked at her friend. Jessica couldn't go changing the subject like that over something that big,
"Hold on! We're still not done talking about how you've been fucking my broth…."
Her best friend's voice immediately and flatly interrupted,
"Simon says forget even asking about asking if we were having sex or that we talked about it if I did."
Wait.
Sam felt her mind go blank again as Jessica seemingly pulled away with an annoyed sigh,
"This is the third time I've had to do this to you because you can't handle it, Sammy. It's starting to bother me."
What was Jessica talking about? The redhead thought to herself.
"Third time you had to do what?"
The blonde sighed again as she checked the studio's door for potential guests and turned the music up.
"Don't worry about it. Let's work out. It's time to dance."
Sam stood as she became aggravated by the cheerleader's distant demeanor and sighed, seeing the disappointment in her eyes. Jess had something she wanted to talk about that she'd interrupted.
"Jeez, Jessie, if you have something to say, just tell me. We're best girls, aren't we?"
The eye-roll from the Queen of the school made the redhead jut out her hip and put her hand over it as well,
"I mean, I put up and played Simon Says of all things with you. I don't do that for just anyone, y'know. So, c'mon, what's on your mind? Is it something my brother did?"
Jessica sauntered by as she held out her arms before stretching them again,
"Oh, it's nothing bad he did."
She then took her spot in the studio, ready to follow the next number. Sam's green-blue eyes caught the victorious smirk written on the girl's face,
"Except Master helped me find my Mom, and we talked to her."
Sam found herself ignoring the use of the word Master again as the news left her staring dumbly at the dancing cheerleader.
The mysterious birth mother who left Jessica a gift on her birthday, and that started off all these shenanigans with Simon?
The former cheerleader loudly gasped. Sam had to shake her head as her brain tried to keep up,
"He…you did WHAT!"
Are you sure that's a good idea, Jessica?
