Monitor an automated sampling program

Deborah reminded herself it was a privilege to serve on the Potemkin, one of the most highly regarded ships in Starfleet. She also reminded herself that she wasn't going to get the most fantastic job on the ship on the second of her posting, just out of the academy.

None of this helped as she sat in one of the ship's labs, behind shielding, watching soil samples from the ship's last away mission being automatically tested for various properties.

Normally, the computer was entrusted with mundane soil sampling testing. However, it was necessary to run monitored duplicate tests to insure that the computer's programming was completely accurate. Deborah saw the necessity of this accuracy testing. She also knew the boring job of monitoring the computer's soil sampling programming usually fell on the most junior officer of the science department.

An automated voice announced, "Commencing soil sampling protocol two beta phi."

Deborah again stifled a sigh as she watched the computer begin the next phase of its sampling program.
