Chapter 2 by Genericc616 Genericc616

Who will you follow?

Misty- Reconnecting with her not so little Sister - , Taboo, Romance

You check the email on your phone again, still not quite sure if you are outside the right place, but sure enough cabin 8 the Sycamore Lodges and there was no mistaking the large 8 on the the plaque affixed beside the large doors. The reason for your confusion is due to the sheer luxury of this cabin, which is more of a large house made of wood and glass, you were sure you could even hear a hot tub bubbling away behind the tall privacy fence surrounding the side of the cabin.

"Cabin my ass," You mutter, shaking your head and laughing. "Well here's hoping this is the right place and I'm not about to intrude and become a statistic," You mutter as you slowly approach the door and try the key you were given at the front desk. Sure enough, the key fits and the door swings open giving you the first glance of where you'll be spending the next few weeks with your younger Sister Lyra.

The furniture and fittings all look way fancier than anything you've been fortunate to own, giving the place a luxurious and modern feel to it, a far cry from the crappy apartment you've been stuck in after the divorce. You can't shake the distinct feeling that you're out of place here, you find yourself fidgeting with your wedding ring out of nervousness.

You suddenly catch yourself doing it and look down at your hand, unsure of why you're even wearing the damn ring, the **** of habit, maybe? The sense of invisibility it gives you the few times your friends convince you to go out and drink with them, perhaps? That somehow still wearing it was delaying you from facing the inescapable reality that the last four years of your life had been a waste, Yeah that one is probably it, you think to yourself.

You turn to look away, hoping to see anything that would distract you from your thoughts, and catch your reflection staring back at you from a mirror by the front door. You look at yourself, trying to see if you can see all the features your friends compliment you on, which you dismissed at the time as them just trying to make you feel better. Your hazel eyes with green flecks, your shoulder-length chestnut brown hair and for a brief moment you think you see it, a younger version of you full of hope and dreams of travelling around the world and writing about everything you saw. You smile and feel a glimmer of happiness before your mind conjures up an unpleasant memory, some argument you had with your former husband before the end of it all.

You shake your head and head back to the car, hoping that with Lyra around you might finally be able to get yourself out of the perpetual funk you've been stuck in the last few months. You head over to your old and somewhat reliable Honda, seeing the Acordian sticker Lyra had stuck to it not long after your parents gifted it to you on your 18th birthday. The fun nickname Lyra gave the old junker it as a play on the model and on account of how much it rattled when you first got it. You smile and laugh, remembering how Lyra's comments about the rattles being the car's way of making music put your mind at ease with the otherwise worrisome sounds. Still, the car has served you well in the 13 years you've been driving it, with a fair few repairs here and there but nothing too serious and no matter how confident the mechanic, nothing ever silenced its music.

You take your bags from the trunk and slam it shut, before stopping to shake it to ensure the latch catches and the trunk stays closed. It's a wonder you have yet to return to your car to find the trunk wide open and all contents gone, but then again, what thief would even see The Acordian and think there was anything of value in it worth taking? They'd be right to think so, the only goods of value left are the laptop and clothes and the stash of sex toys buried beneath the clothing. That was something you were looking forward to on the time away from your shitty apartment, a room with walls thicker than paper so you actually enjoy yourself with privacy rather than trying to masturbate only to hear your roommate cough or your neighbour's toilet ruin the moment before you got to cum.

Your mind starts to wonder, while you carry your bags into the palatial cabin, if there might be time to treat yourself before Lyra arrives, you don't see another car parked so you figure you might have time. However, just as you were mentally choosing which toy you were going to use first, there's a high-pitched squeal of pure joy which brings you down to reality with a jolt.

"Sis, you're finally here," Lyra yells as she practically leaps across the full length of the lounge, clearing a large coffee table in a single bound and throwing herself at you for a hug. With hands full of your bags and caught entirely off guard, your younger sister's body knocks you flat onto your back with Lyra giggling to herself as she continues to hug you. "Oops sorry, Mist, guess I got carried away," Lyra adds with another giggle, springing to her feet with ease and then practically dragging you upright with a surprising display of strength.

"No harm, nothing broken," You reply with a laugh before hugging Lyra, enjoying the warmth and comfort of another person who is actually happy to see you for a moment.

"That's good to hear, wouldn't be a great start to the vacation to help kick start the mending process after finally being free of that loser husband, if I got breaking something the first day," Lyra replies with a soft giggle.

"I thought this was just a normal vacation," You reply with a nervous laugh, not wanting any excuse to dredge up any of the unpleasant memories of the last few years.

"Mist, I love you, but the last time we spent any real time together was before you married that jerk," Lyra explains with a soft smile.

"No, we met up last year, just before Halloween," You reply after taking a few moments to think about it.

"That was a funeral!" Lyra replies, shaking her head and laughing. "Even then your loser husband made you drive back the same day because he didn't want to miss the game," Lyra adds shaking her head.

You sit and think for a moment, trying to think of the last time you spent any time with Lyra or any of your other family for that matter. "Shit, it really has been that long," You eventually say with a heavy sigh.

"It's not your fault, Sis," Lyra says with a smile. "We know you wanted to see us, just you were stuck with that lazy jerk who didn't want to drive out to visit us," She adds reassuringly. "However, he's gone now, so we can start to fix all of that," Lyra says her words fill you with a sense of enthusiasm.

"Yeah, it'll be nice catching up with everyone," You reply with a smile.

"Yeah, but as your favourite Sister, I got dibs, so for the next three weeks, it's just you, me and this kick-ass cabin," Lyra says excitedly.

"You're my only Sister," You reply with a soft laugh.

"That we know of," Lyra replies.

"Gross, I don't want to think about what our Dad got up to, while on his work trips," You reply with a laugh shaking your head. "Bad enough they were never around and left Mom to raise us alone after you were born, I don't need to think about all our potential half-siblings," You add laughing while pretending to shake off the mental images.

Truth be told, you have no memories of your father, they were seldom around when you were old enough to form memories. Your Mother got rid of any pictures of the pair of them not long after he packed his stuff and moved out when Lyra was only a week or two old. Hell Your neighbour and close family friend Ms Genevieve, or Jenny as your family knew her, was more of a parent. She was there for all the important events that a parent would be for both you and Lyra, helping your Mom out where she could, and giving you and Lyra important life advice. Thinking back on it, there was no way your Mom could have covered the mortgage on her job so you guess Jenny was probably helping your Mother out with bills too.

"Well like it or not, the point is there could be hundreds of half-sisters, and I'm still your favourite," Lyra says triumphantly, bringing you out of your parental reverie.

"Fine, just promise me this isn't going to be one of those therapy-type deals where I have to cry and unburden all the crap I lived with the last 4 years," You say with a half smile.

"Don't worry, Mist, My type of therapy is making you feel alive and remembering just how much you can enjoy things again," Lyra replies with a wicked grin. "So as of now, I won't bring up the Ex unless you want to talk about it, Sound good?" Lyra asks with a grin.

"Yeah, that actually sounds pretty Amazing," You reply with a smile

"So what do you want to do first?" Lyra asks with a smile

How do you spend the first day with Lyra?
