But Mike's eyes lit up. He scanned the lounge. Riley was there, in the corner. She sat with her laptop, typing notes. Her hair tied back, focused as ever.

"There she is," Mike said. "I'm going over."

"Dude, don't," Alex warned. "She's not interested."

Mike stood anyway. "Watch and learn."

Alex watched, tense. Mike walked up to Riley's table. She looked up, expression neutral.

"Hey," Mike said. "I'm Mike. From the quad yesterday? Saw you reading."

Riley closed her laptop slightly. "Hi. Yeah, I remember."

"What were you reading?" Mike asked. He smiled wide.

"A novel," she said. "Sci-fi."

"Cool," Mike replied. "I'm into that. Ever play video games? We could team up sometime."

Riley paused. Her green eyes assessed him. "Maybe. Busy with classes."

"Totally get it," Mike said. "But if you want a break, hit me up. I'm in the east dorms."

She nodded. "Sure. Thanks."

Mike grinned. "No problem. See you around."

He walked back, triumphant. Alex stared.

"See? Not so bad," Mike said. "She didn't bite your head off."

"She barely said yes," Alex pointed out. "Probably just being polite."

Mike sat down. "Whatever. It's a start. She's intriguing. Strong type."

Alex felt jealous. Not that he wanted Mike near her, but the idea of her opening up to someone else stung. Especially after what he saw in the shower. Her secret body. That massive cock he jerked to.

"Okay, fine," Alex admitted. "I warned him. You're tough to deal with sometimes."

Riley zipped her bag. "Maybe I am. But your friend didn't care."

She left for the gym. Alex sat there, fuming. Why did Mike push? And why did Riley smirk?

That evening, Mike texted: "She say anything?"

Alex replied: "Yeah. Thinks you're nice."
