Midna tries using her magic, but it only turns them halfway back to humanoid.

It wasn’t an easy decision. Link thought about it, agonized over it, for several minutes. None of the options were good, it all came down to choosing the least evil. With no other choice, he told Midna to try wielding her internal magic directly, and return them to normal through it. The look in her orange eyes as their gazes met told him that she trusted his decision, even as she knew how dangerous it was.

The female wolf’s eyes closed, as Midna drew upon the well of energy inside her body, the talent she had nurtured with time and effort into a true skill. But wielding magic without words or sigils or physical components to guide the mind was dangerous work, and as her power pulsed through her body and into Link’s, her efforts focused on changing them into a Twili and Hylian again. The energy became physical first, a dark glow surrounding both wolves, and then it became tactile, a light heat that massaged their muscles and ebbed away at any pain as their bodies rearranged into something wholly new.

Their quadrupedal torso and build was the first thing to change, their limbs reorienting and balance shifting into the more bipedal shape they had known before so well. Their paws became more dexterous, hands and feet, and their faces lost a bestial edge until they looked much more expressive than they had before. Midna’s chest expanded out into breasts once again, and her butt swelled into something curvy and enticing. At the same time, Link’s form filled out with lean muscle that gave him an athlete’s build, one many ladies found quite attractive.

It was only when the heat slowly disappeared and they realized the changes were over that they noticed what hadn’t been changed. Their bodies were still covered in fur, their faces were still protruding muzzles ending it wet noses and filled with sharp teeth, they each still had a tail on their backside, and their fingers and toes were capped with black claws. Link looked at their bodies, then raised an eyebrow at Midna, his wolfy face unamused.

Even through her black fur, Link could see Midna’s cheeks turn red as she blushed. “Hehehe...that was a warm-up!” Then she looked Link over, and a fire seemed to light in her eyes. “Actually...is this so bad? I mean, it’s kind of the best of both worlds. We’ve got the fur, the wild instincts, the exotic allure, but we also have opposable thumbs and a working mouth. I think with a few minutes of prep time, I could do this one ritual I know that’d make everyone in my realm see us like this as normal. Wouldn’t it be fun to just...take a vacation away from ourselves?”

It made Link think. He did, after all, find Midna quite attractive, and there was something about this halfway form that called to him. Link had done so much, worked so hard...was a little vacation too much to ask for? Then again, what if the longer they stayed this way, the more permanent it became? Maybe he should ask her to try turning them back to normal again, right now.
