Chapter 3

Who finds this on their phone?
Maya, top-tier streamer
The sounds of birds chirping outside my bedroom window pierced my ears. You may think “oh how peaceful and nice” but for me it is anything but. I’m currently in bed trying to sleep because it was 4 AM last night when I was finally able to fall asleep and it’s currently 8:15, so I’m trying to fall back asleep but those damned birds are preventing me from doing so because even the slightest sounds will keep me awake… insomnia’s a bitch.
Not to mention I can’t afford to be running on little sleep today, it’s the last day before the big tournament with 5K on the line, and I have to practice as much as I can, which won’t work if I’m running on four hours of sleep. Honestly at this point I would have installed some kind of soundproofing in this room but money’s a bit tight right now. Either way I managed to drag myself out of bed and kind of like half-dressed. Something that for me is already an accomplishment by itself.
Like any sane person that makes their money off the internet, I immediately check my phone afterwards, even if to make sure I wasn’t cancelled on Twitter by some dumb thing I did years ago, or last night, you never know.
From what I can see, I don’t have more notifications on Twitter than usual, hell, it was even a relatively quiet day it would seem. There was, however, one weird notification on my phone, that being the installation of some app called ”Gem Ladies” which is already weird on its own, I never get a notification for something being installed. I don’t recall ever hearing of or downloading it though, and I’m not dumb enough to click shady download links either. I should probably take a look at it just to be sure though…
Upon opening the app, it seems innocent enough, just some match-3 game like Candy Crush, it has a board of gems and a timer that ticks down with a bar next to it, seemingly indicating how much time you still have left out of how much time you had in total. Handily enough that bar has a second bar right next to it that goes up, rather than down, which I assume is a bar to show how many points you need to have at a certain time in order to still make it. Every time I made another match it a pink line would grow that started at the bottom, and maybe it’s just me being a perv but the way it moves kind of looks like a dick. Must be my imagination, though.
As a professional gamer (no really, I make money gaming, that tournament I was talking about is a Super Smash Bros tournament, one of my specialties), I was fairly easily able to clear out the level, but it still felt weirdly tough for a first level, especially considering that match-3 games mostly appeal to a less experienced audience, that being mostly middle-aged women and children. Hell, this seems like something my mom would play, she’s kind of addicted to the genre, though I guess that’s kinda my fault for wanting her to play literally anything when I was young (not to say I’m old now, just younger, like 10, 11 maybe? Damn. That means that must’ve been just a bit over a decade ago now). Either way I beat it, and the game then brings me to an interesting screen for a match-3 game: a skill-tree. Now, I would normally explore the skill-tree religiously, but I’m really not all that interested in this game, so I just tap the handy-dandy recommended skill button at the top of the screen, which brought me to the “career” branch.
It was then that I was shocked, the first level of the branch states “User may perform any lewd action on a Twitch stream without repercussions” which just seems weird to me, though it does explain something, because that means that either this app is something Twitch made, but I don’t get why they would do something like this, and if this entire app is for Twitch, why is this in career. And why would they encourage people to do lewd things on the platform? That leads me to believe this has to be some kind of hack-app, but if it is, how do they stop Twitch from banning me for lewd actions specifically? And why would they if I’m not **** to do anything… that just helps me, so then why help me at all?
I’m not experienced (or awake) enough for this right now, so I just tap it, it gives me a confirmation message to get the “lady privileges” skill, good to know they have titles for their ridiculous skills. Electing to ignore the app for now, I go grab breakfast when I realise who I need to help me solve this is just beyond the door.
hello there, if you've made it to the end of the chapter I'd like to thank you first of all, and if you have any advice, suggestions, criticism, anything I'd be glad to see it in the comments.
