Maid → Blue-Skinned Alien Shapeshifter

I'm worried about the 'recommended change.' I barely understand that this device is doing anything at all, and yet I intuitively know it is absolutely changing and warping the whole of my being with every iteration, and I can't discern any difference anywhere. It's terrifying. What has it changed, and what might it change next? I've no answers.

What if, after the change, I'm no longer a normal human 'Maid' at all making use of an advanced machine to simply more attractive, but rather some kind of... 'Blue-Skinned Alien Shapeshifter?'

Aetheric energy spikes: a familiar, surreal tingling that my suit - frozen in time - fails to alert me of as---

the world shfits. I shift. Become less - more? - and my choker flickers and --

-- remains deactivated, thankfully. Being human is an interesting and often useful experience, especially for loitering around lowtech worlds like this where they're simply all over the place, but it's not the wisest choice when one finds themselves drifting through space without their ship.

Naturally, I don't need such a device to appear passably human... but it certainly helps make me a standout human, and I've never had a head for all the fine particulars one needs to really sell a shape properly when I shift into a different species.

The thrill of panic I felt earlier fades... only to return as I realize the device has just activated once more and, again, I've no idea what it's even doing to me, or what prompted it to activate to begin with. Alright, 'o-k.' Let's think about this rationally.

What if I try to instigate a change deliberately? Even if I end up forgetting it afterward, I should at least maintain some modicum of control. If I remember, though... I'll know how I keep accidentally stimulating this accursed thing...
