Does Mackenzie speak up? How do the girls respond?
Mackenzie asserts herself as best she can
Mackenzie obviously didn't want to wait there to dry, nor did she want to roam the halls as she was, so she took a page out of Milly's book and manned up. Before they left the room, she cleared her throat and spoke up.
"Excuse me? That's my suitcase," said Mackenzie through the door, trying to sound assertive but coming off a tad more nervous than she intended.
A couple awkward beats of silence followed.
"Who said that?" asked Harmony.
Mackenzie peeked under the stall walls, and saw two pairs of shoes and a suitcase standing by the door, and (presumably) Harmony's shoes approaching her. Mackenzie could recognize them by their voices now, but had no idea what any of them looked like.
The intercom could be distantly heard echoing through the halls, again saying the weather was choppy and reminding the guests to secure their luggage in their rooms. The ship was swaying quite a bit more than when they were docked, so that made Mackenzie feel uneasy, but she was thankful that at least her seasickness was totally gone.
Mackenzie answered, "Ahem. Uhhh... Me."
"Ohhhhhhh, Me! Of cooOOooourse," taunted Harmony, who now stood just outside of the stall.
Heather slunk forward to join her and audibly slapped her forehead. She said, "We should've known it was Me's..."
Mackenzie shrunk back onto her toilet seat, her confidence totally lost as these two hyenas prowled toward her with obvious ill intent. The tone in their voice was like they were playing with their food.
"My name's Mackenzie, now can you please just give me my suitcase?" asked Mackenzie.
"Mmmmmm... And how do we know it's yours, Mackie Girl?" asked Harmony, leaning on the door loudly.
"You could be a thief for all we know," said Heather without missing a beat.
"It's mine, okay? In the top pocket, there's a small purse with my phone and room key. Room 413. My phone's got a pink case and like 16% battery. My ID's even in there. What else do you want from me?" stammered Mackenzie.
She didn't want to think about what might happen if they took her suitcase. Two whole weeks with just one soaked, smelly, dirty outfit to her name. This was supposed to be a clothing-issue-free vacation! I can't get off on the wrong foot, thought Mackenzie.
They brought her suitcase closer and, presumably, were fact-checking what she just claimed. She couldn't make out what they were saying as they whispered amongst themselves, but a few seconds later she got a response.
