Lunch With Jessica

After packing up his bag, Jack ambled out of the classroom and merged with the throng of students migrating to their next destinations. Making his way towards the cafeteria, he anticipated the abundance of food options and the possibility of crossing paths with familiar faces.

Upon entering the cafeteria, Jack lined up at a counter serving Greek salads, stacked with layers of lettuce, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, and zesty dressing. Grabbing a tray, he ordered a medium salad and proceeded to scan the area for an empty table.

By chance, he spotted Jessica occupying a table in the corner, engrossed in conversation with a petite brunette. Deciding to give it a shot, Jack asked if he could join them, which Jessica welcomed him warmly.

Introductions took place as Jack claimed the vacant seat across from Sarah, who greeted him politely. Gazing intently at her face, he noted her delicate features, framed by chocolate-colored locks grazing her shoulders. Expressive brown eyes offset her smooth complexion, while thin eyebrows arched gracefully above.

After settling in, Jack picked up the conversation. "First day's been crazy, hasn't it?"

Jessica beamed, exclaiming, "Yeah, totally! Hey, I saw Julia today—remember her from last year? Still super smart!"

As Jessica shared her encounter with Julia, Jack's expression mirrored genuine astonishment. "Wow, what a coincidence! Small world indeed."

Following a pause, the conversation shifted towards their interests and possible involvement in extracurricular activities.

Sarah paused mid-chew, looking up. "Which clubs are you guys thinking of joining?"

Recalling their previous discussion, Jack answered, "Still weighing my options, but maybe the basketball team. Need to get rid of all this stress."

Jessica replied, "Count me out! Team sports aren't my cup of tea."

Jack asked, "What about you, Sarah? Join any clubs today?"

Sarah shook her head. "Nope, haven't decided yet."

Following the conclusion of their meal, Jack bid farewell to Jessica and Sarah, eager to explore the variety of sports clubs available. He sauntered through the expansive courtyard, observing the vibrant displays and energetic recruiters promoting their organizations.
