Lucy 1: The gang experiences the game’s first Event, a Switcheroo!

Lucy read her event aloud, “Switcheroo! Event. Your place and more will shift with another, as your hidden layers make their way to each other.”

Lucy gave out another “Ooooo…” as she was impressed again by the pieces moving about. Faith and Sophie Oooo’ed along with her, getting absorbed back into the game.

All four game pieces shuffled about. Everyone ended up at a space that another originated at. Mia’s mailbox shifted back from the 10th space to the 4th, where Faith’s high heel started. Faith’s high heel shifted all the way to the 9th space where Lucy’s pizza box started. Lucy’s pizza box shifted back to the 6th space where Sophie’s laundry basket started. And Sophie’s laundry basket shifted up to the 10th space where Mia’s mailbox started.

Everyone uncomfortably fidgeted in their seat for a moment, then settled down. None of them paid this uncomfortable change any mind, but they all felt a slight difference with the way they sat on their respective seats. Beyond this first moment, none of them felt any discomfort besides one. Sophie in particular felt very tight and constrained around her pelvis, but in the moment, she hadn’t noticed yet. The spectacle of the self-moving board game and the game’s first event held her attention.

Faith cheered as she went so far forward, then grumbled as Sophie slid one space ahead of her.

Sophie contained her excitement at being in the lead, not wanting to gloat in front of a newcomer, but stuck her tongue out at Faith when Lucy was looking away.

Mia cringed at her mortal enemy even being on the couch. She couldn’t believe Lucy of all people was playing this game with them, and even looked like she was having fun! Her friends were, too! Mia was incredulous that they didn’t see any problems here. She just crossed her arms and tried to smile.

Lucy genuinely smiled as she loved games like this, and happily handed the dice off to Faith, unsure of who goes next. When Lucy first came out she thought she might be getting pranked, but now she was just glad to be playing such an advanced game, and maybe this would finally bridge the divide between her and Mia!

Mia took the dice from Faith, but accidentally dropped them into her own lap. She retrieved them and was about to roll when she remembered her bonus card.
