Lower standards

Lauren sighed. As much as she wanted Kyle, he was with Charlotte now, and had turned her down a half dozen times. She couldn't bare another humiliating rejection. No, she had to set her sights lower.

Lauren looked around the party. There were a lot of guys... there, perfect! She saw Steve drinking alone in the corner. Steve was a total nerd who'd had the hots for Lauren since high school. He wasn't nearly good enough for her... but he was easy pickings, and she was desperate. She had to win this bet, and besides, she had to get laid. She promised herself that after Steve she'd move on to Kyle. She'd have confidence then to get what she really desired.

So, sighing and straightening her tutu, Lauren padded over towards Steve...
