Megan's mind warred with itself, torn between not wanting to lose more clothes and not wanting to draw attention to herself.
At least if she had bare feet, in this frilly summer dress people might just assume she was a hippy and move on, not stare at the socks that did nothing to match her outfit.
It was a slim hope, but Megan found that her mind still didn't feel completely her own, as if something was suddenly controlling her life. The past hour had just been one calamity after another.
The decision made, Megan quickly bent over to tug at her socks. The cool air conditioned sent a chill across her bare buttocks as she felt the dress ride up, clearly not as long as she thought it was.
She tried to push the thoughts out of her mind, the quicker she got the socks off the less chance there was of someone noticing her.
As soon as they were off her feet, she quickly pushed them under the nearest shelf, hoping to come find them later and straightened up.
The feeling of her bare feet on the cool floor only served as a reminder than in the past hour she had now lost every single item of clothing she had put on this morning. The only protection she had was the dress that she still hadn't paid for.
