Lore DLC: Example of modern gym norms

Eleanor is a trainer in a cross-gender gym, and Alex recently transferred from his old gym, which he went to before moving. Alex had never gone to a cross-gender gym; this new gym had all the equipment his old gym had, but they were separated with walkways going around the square mats. The mats were special workout mats made to fit various pieces of equipment, depending on the area being worked on, and the wooden walkways were just the floor with a nice polished finish. It was an immaculate gym, but the feeling was completely different; you could just tell without analysing the layout that the interior designer wanted to keep both genders separated in all but physicality. The only thing that was properly shared was the hallway that was enlarged, and even that was separated using a railing and 2 stanchions going on opposite sides of the railings to create a proper way in and out, as outlined by arrow signs on the floors.

Alex felt like show meat, a mouse who's part of a group of mice being watched by lions and hyenas. With his eyes sometimes peeking to the side, it was like being watched by sweaty titans; every time he looked over, their eyes instantly darted to his due to their sixth sense ability, looking on as they pumped weights not possible for the old standards of mortal men. Meanwhile, Alex tended to feel down when he looked at his fellow brothers in (gym) arms, watching how laughable their training was compared to the girls. Alex now truly understood why they segregated gyms; it wasn't because they needed to buy so many variations of equipment or for the safety of guys, it was so they wouldn't meet that crushing reality every single day. All the other guys at the gym were in a similar rut or had already learned to move on from it, but Alex wasn't so confident as the others, and what made it worse was that the manager had all sorts of posters up, even some from the old era, causing Alex to look on with envy and an injured pride when he saw them.

There was even a little girl who walked over, not thinking about the size of the equipment, as she walked over to the men's area and felt cramped as she tried out their machines, lifting the weights easily and accidentally treating the guys like kids before the girls' friend pulled her over, only a year apart in age but far more physically developed due to the way girls just hit it in growth spurts. Many of the guys felt imamsculated and left right then and there.

On the other hand, Eleanor was having a great time, she was busy gabbing with her workout friends and occasionally glancing at the cute guys trying to bulk up. Guys could hardly put on fat, but muscle? It was something many girls giggled at when imagining such prospects. But as a trainer, Eleanor thought it was admirable and tried to hush such girls, although she failed to do so in time. Eleanor loved her job, she got to work out, feel good, and help others while doing it. What's more, the gym was massive, it had giant pools, acrobatics halls, outdoor exercise equipment, special running tracks for both genders, including women who wanted to run alongside their dogs' whose breeds were improved to match modern women's standards. Also, if she was being honest, the eye candy was nice, all those guys working their hardest were adorable, and it awoke her feline senses of playful motherhood. Eleanor didn't see anything wrong with the gym; she didn't care to notice, like Alex did, about how the bathrooms were on opposite sides of the room or the overwhelming pressure all the ladies oozed out in the guys' direction.

To the girls, they were just having fun, and to the guys, they were happy to get through their workouts despite the inconveniences of gender segregation in the modern era.

Other societal factors expressed through the two
