Chapter 3 by Zebra Zebra

What treasures...

Loot...

As you and your group of six Alligator folk ventured onto the dry lands, the sun beat down mercilessly on your scaly skin, causing it to shine like a thousand dazzling scales. Your people's enhanced night vision was of no use in this blinding light, but it didn't phase any of you. The taste of **** and the promise of ancient treasures fueled your determination.

Moving through the arid landscape, your group encountered a small band of rough-looking humans. They eyed the seven of you with suspicion and fear, their hands running over their weapons’ hilts. Your Alligator features made them wary, but their weapons made them dangerous. You stood tall, unflinching, ready for any challenge.

One of the humans, a heavy-set man with a scar running down his left cheek, stepped forward. His eyes fixed on you, studying your armored body with a mix of curiosity and disgust. "What are you?" he growled, his voice thick with suspicion.

You responded with a simple, "We are the children of the great swamp. Our home is the marshlands, and we have come to seek what lies within the half-sunken city." Your voice was calm, assertive, making it clear that you weren't one to back down.

For a moment, the air was tense, the confrontation hanging in the balance. Then, the scarred man gave a grudging nod. "Very well, pass through. But keep your eyes on my men. We don't want any trouble."

As you continued on your journey, the desert heat started to wear you down. Your mouth was dry, your skin burning from the sun. It wasn't long before your weariness turned to exhaustion. Your group sought refuge under the shadow of a dilapidated building, intricately decorated with ancient symbols., a welcome sight amidst the barren wasteland.

While you and your group rested, you couldn't help but notice the intricate designs adorning the walls. These symbols were a remnant of the past, a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient civilization that once thrived here. You wondered what other secrets this place held and how they could be of use to you and your people.

As the day wore on, the unbearable heat finally gave way to a glorious sunset, casting colors across the sky as breathtaking as any you'd ever seen. With the spirit of your people lifted, you pushed onward, eager to uncover the mysteries hidden within the half-sunken city.

The closer you got to the city, the more you could feel its age. Crumbling walls enveloped you like an ancient cathedral, creeping vines once having a stranglehold now withered, leaving behind a haunting echo of what once was. Somehow, the ghostly emptiness of the city fascinated you, building an unnerving energy that begged you to explore further.

As your group finally set foot in the sunken city, you were shocked to find the main chamber was filled with treasures beyond imagination. Bits and pieces that where common place before the war, but now seem like treasures of the past from steel to ceramic cups…

With hearts pounding, you and your group of Alligator folk waded through the chambers, exploring the wealth that lay before you. In the corners of one particular chamber, drenched in dust and bathed in a feeble light, you found it… the ancient carving you sought. Towering above you, etched in great detail upon the wall, its very presence stirring an energy that made your scales tingle as if charged with electricity.

Your group members marveled at the discovery, the recognition of the treasure's importance brightening their eyes. The Da'karian carving, said to bestow power and dominion upon its owner, had been yours to claim. Reverently, you reached out and touched the ancient face of the carving, feeling a powerful surge that seemed to reside within the carving itself.

Little did you know, that excitement would soon be replaced by something entirely different. As your fingers brushed over the smooth, time-worn surface, a chilling realization dawned on you... this carving held a darker power.
