Big Lake State Park - This area is used for camping and putting boats into the lake. It also has areas that people can come and tour as well as a playground for kids to play on while they are camping or touring the area. This area pulls in a lot of tourists all year around. It also has cabins that you can rent for a week at a time if you want to.

The Rec Room - This is a place where all of the older kids hang out on the weekends. It has arcade games, Miniature golf, and pool tables. It also has a snack area where the kids can get something to eat and drink. It has tables so people can just hangout as well. It is a good place to go during the winter or on a rainy day.

Thomas Cinemas - This is a place for people of all ages. There are two theaters that play the hottest movies that are out at the time. It is small compared to what other towns might have, but they make up for it with numerous showtimes during each day. It is a big hangout for most of the teens in the town.

Big Movie Drive-in - If you are into an outdoor movie, this is the place for you. It shows the number one movie of the week every week, which makes it good for people who happen to show up every week hoping to see something different.

Overton Resort - This is a place where tourists stay when they don’t want to go camping. It is run by the Overton’s who are the parents of Lexy and Lanie Overton. It has everything that a tourist would be looking for when they come to Big Lake. Some of these things include a large pool, many bars, tennis courts, basketball courts, a workout area with all the weight and equipment that anyone would need. People around the town are also members of the resort, which allows them to come and use the place just like tourists would.

Frosty Brewery - This is a place for the adults to hangout and drink beer. There is a band there every weekend and it has a few items of food for you to eat. Kids are allowed in, but of course there is no underage drinking allowed so they must wear a wristband to say that they are underage.

Overlook Restaurant - This is the best restaurant in town. It overlooks the lake so that people who want a nice view can watch as boats go by as well as look at the scenery. It is a bit pricey but not too bad overall.

The Pizza Lounge - The best place to get pizza in town. Big Lake also has some of your chain pizza restaurants, but nothing can beat a pizza from this place.

Williams Park - Is a park that is used for baseball during the spring, but in the fall, the field is big enough to hold two fields for soccer for those who want to play when it is not school season. The field is used year around for youth sports.

Wilson Field - Used for girls softball during the spring months and has room for one soccer field during the fall.

Carter Gym - Place to play Basketball and Volleyball when it is not school season. It houses youth leagues for both sports.

The Cold Joint - This is the ice shop in Big Lake. It has every flavor that you can think of, so there will be no upset customers. It is a good place for the kids to hangout as well.

The Brew and Sweet Shop - This is a coffee and pastry shop. You name a kind of coffee or pastry and this place has it. It is a good hangout spot for adults as well as teens.

Big Lake Elementary, Middle, and High Schools - These are the schools for the town.

Great Plains University - The college that is about an hour away to which most of Big Lake seems to attend when it is time to go to college.
