Lila is used too
Lila staggered backward as the air thickened, clinging to her like molasses. She could hardly see the room anymore. The walls were folding inward, becoming lines, strokes of ink—fading like old parchment being overwritten. The ceiling above was gone, replaced by a vortex of starlight and void stitched with threads of glowing text.
And from that un-sky, the Unbound continued to descend—unfinished things, flickering between states of becoming, trailing the remnants of half-born realities.
Laurel collapsed back onto the bed, her legs parting, body shuddering again. Her hands clutched at her belly as another pulse of energy wracked her. This time, it wasn’t pain. Her moan was low, shaky, tinged with pleasure—and fear.
“Lila… it’s happening again. Something’s entering me.”
Lila rushed to her side, still holding the first child. “They’re using us as gateways,” she whispered, her voice hollow. “They’re writing us into the story.”
“You were always part of it.”
“You were born in the margins.”
“Now, you are the page.”
The voice returned—every syllable like a needle threading into her skull. The diary floated from Lila’s hands, pages glowing, flipping in midair. She could feel her limbs slacken, her heartbeat syncing with some deeper rhythm—not hers.
Her clothes dissolved into dust. Her skin shimmered with thin, golden veins of script—her name, her thoughts, her past rewritten in real-time, tattooed across her flesh in symbols she could no longer read but knew. Laurel’s body pulsed beside her, more fluid now—her hips widening, breasts heavy and warm, her womb glowing bright beneath the skin like a lantern.
And between her legs, something stirred.
“Lila,” she gasped, her voice ragged, half-lost to trance. “It’s inside already. It’s growing again—faster than before—”
Her stomach swelled outward in seconds.
This was no pregnancy. This was incarnation. The second of the Unbound was shaping itself inside her, feeding on magic, memory, and flesh. Laurel arched her back, panting, arms limp at her sides as her belly grew larger—round and tight like a planet being drawn into orbit.
Lila turned her eyes to the diary. It hovered in the air, glowing brightly now.
And on the open page, new words burned:
Two Bound bear the Thirteen Forgotten.
Their bodies are cradle, gate, altar.
Each one born rends the veil.
Each one born makes the world less true.
Lila felt her thighs begin to tingle—then burn. Her breath caught. She looked down.
Another glyph was forming just above her pelvis—curving lines of gold and ink, pulsing softly. Her body was responding. Changing. She could feel something drawing into her, like a vacuum in her womb—an absence preparing to be filled.
“No,” she whispered. “Not both of us.”
“Both. Always both. You are dual. You are balance. You are form and will.”
Her own transformation was beginning.
Laurel screamed—high, wild, as the second child **** its way into existence. Her body convulsed in release, magic crackling across her skin, and with a rush of blinding light, a second Unbound infant slipped from her trembling form, caught in the shimmering folds of the universe itself.
And in Lila’s belly, something bloomed.
A warmth. A weight. A spark of becoming.
She fell to her knees, the diary settling in front of her like a commandment.
Pages turned.
The Third Comes Through Her.
The Fourth Through Flesh Joined.
Lila sobbed once, her hand resting on her now-firm belly. She could feel it. The next was already taking root inside her.
And still—above, the void smiled with a thousand unseen mouths.
