Librarian's Assistant

Paulette had a job at the local library. She wasn't a librarian but it was still important work.

Turns out that being an actual librarian required a Master's Degree in Library Science, and Paulette didn't have the experience or the money to skip all of that. In fact, she hadn't even gotten her Associates Degree yet, spending weekdays at the Colony's local Adult-Baby Community College.

However, her college had a deal with the local public library for Language Majors to intern there, something that Paulette signed up for on the weekends. On Saturdays, Paulette had two-jobs; returning discarded books to the front-desk for future storing, and storyteller in the reading nook.

Paulette was dressed in the most grown-up clothes she had -- her black dress shoes and a lilac, frilled and layered dress decorated with flowers -- and she sat into the rocking chair in the corner of the kid's section, carrying one of the books she was assigned to read to the babies and grade-school children that visited the library.
