Chapter 70 by Herrin26 Herrin26

Who goes first?

Liara Speaks.

"Shepard... I'm so sorry."

"You betrayed me...We use to work together. We took down the Shadow Broker together. I didn’t care about him, but I did it for you. I trusted you. Why couldn't you trust me?"

Liaras heart broke even more at the way her lover said those words. Her voice was so weak.

"I thought I was making the right choice. I had to protect you. All she had...Everything you worked for would have been forgotten and you would have been an embarrassment. An exile at worst."

"Liara." Jane sat and put her head in her hands. "I didn't care about what she had. Let her. I've faced far worse than some dirty secrets getting out."

"You can't shoot misinformation or what people believe. I know that better than anyone else. I wanted to..."

"You set me up to be ****, stripped, humiliated and bound to be your servant. Then you got all our friends involved. If EDI and Tali hadn't figured it out I would have been a **** for the rest of my life. Do you not get that?!"

"It wouldn't have been real. I just needed you to believe it was. As long as you did so would she..."

"You don't get it." Shepard looked up to show tears in her eyes. "If you would have succeeded I would have hated you...How can I ever trust you again?"

"Shepard...Jane." Liara lowered herself down to her knees. "I made the worst choice I could. I can try to justify myself until I'm a deeper shade of blue, but it will just be excuses. I know you're hurting more now then ever."

"What's worse is you didn't need to do any of that! Look we beat her together. That's how we do things. That's how we beat Saren. The Reapers. The Shadow Broker. You could have found a way to let me know. I know that. Then this could have been done faster."

"You're right. I have become so disconnected from that."

"I told you not to become some reclusive."

"I became what I fought against." Liara admitted. "Is there anything? Anything that I can do to earn back even chance to regain your trust?" Liara had her own tears coming.

Shepard looked at the asari. The woman she fell so deeply for. But was there anyway she could ever let her get that close again?

Some ideas were starting to come to mind, but she wasn’t sure if she should even try.

What's next?
