Chapter 10 by takacube takacube

What's next?

Let's talk about sex

You looked at your dad who was sitting on the couch, holding a beer, as you sat down on the loveseat across from him. A part of you noticed how much more at ease he was dressing wise at home, as a man, and you definitely found it more than a bit interesting at how only 2 days after being released, he was seemingly conducting himself as if he had been a man all of his life. A residual effect of the brain transplant, Saunders had said, but you didn't believe it at first until you were sitting there and mentioned it to him.

He laughed a bit as he took a drink and nodded. "I know, it's just that it comes naturally, I don't even think about it at times. There's other times, though, I am just like 'woah, I'm really him...I'm really Gregory.' It's a wild trip." He looked over at you. "And what about you? Don't you sense that too?"

"Yeah, it's weird to think about doing something like Kayleigh would, especially since I don't really remember her all that well...but then I just do something that any girl would do...and I don't even think about it." You paused for a moment before you looked up at him. "Like today, when we were out shopping for groceries, I had no problems just being out in public but I found myself looking at the checkout guy, y'know? I'm not interested in him...but I definitely felt like my body liked what it saw."

Gregory nodded. "I saw you looking at him."

"Yeah, but it wasn't like I was really attracted to him." You paused for a moment and then pulled out your (Kayleigh's, but now yours, you supposed) phone and pulled up her photos. "I mean, I checked out the girls that she's friends with but I don't know. I mean, I'm not sure how to express it..."

"You don't know if your interest in boys is natural but you are finding that you're not attracted to girls in the same way as before..."

You nodded. "I mean, seriously, I'm going to be Kayleigh for the rest of my life and it's just messing with my head. I'm not sure where I'm still Tim and where I'm now supposed to be her."

Gregory nodded and placed the beer down on the coaster. "I hear you. There's so many things we're both adjusting to. I mean, You've spent your whole life as Tim and now you're your cousin, a girl, and you're suddenly expected to live her life without any complications. That's going to be tricky by any means. I mean, I've spent many more years than you as a woman and now, viola, I'm a man with a daughter and business to run." He sighed and looked down at himself. "It's definitely a big change from what I'm used to, what we're both used to."

You sat there for a moment before you turned to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "We'll hit school and work tomorrow, huh?"

"First day jitters?"

"Not really, just wondering how to pull off being a socialite after spending...well...being a nerd." You laughed a bit, wondering what Randall would have to say about your situation, and then pausing again at realizing that being Kayleigh meant you had no connection to Randall, or anyone for that matter. Your dad, sensing the change in your demeanor, gave you a hug before motioning to bed. "Good night."

Whose day to follow?
