Leaving the hotel
After the man left, Eleanor showered and dressed quickly. She checked her bank account, and sure enough, he had drained her accounts. She had $10 in savings, and $6 in her checking account, and there was a new charge on her credit card. She was devasted. She grabbed her stuff and left, making a note to cancel her credit card soon in case the man had gotten her number.
Eleanor went to the lobby and wondered how she was going to get home as she could not afford a ride. She had to call Beth and swallow her pride. She called Beth.
"Wow, you left early with that guy. What was he loaded?" asked Beth.
"Long story. I need you to come pick me up."
"Um, sure. Where are you?"
"Hotel St Claire."
"Ooooh, nice, so did you..."
"Please, I'll tell you later. Just come get me." Eleanor hung up and sat in the lobby.
A man with thinning hair and a beer gut walked up to her. He seemed the same age as the man from last night. "Hello," he said.
Eleanor ignored him.
"I'm a friend of Gary. Nice ring."
"Who's Gary?"
"Your lover from last night."
Eleanor's heart sank.
