How should he deal with this predicament?
Leave before the barkeep returns
Definitely sure that he didn't have the money to pay his tab, Robert waited only a moment further after the door closed behind the man, before he slipped out of his seat as quietly as possible, and tip toed over to the entrance.
Before going, he took a second to listen for the barkeep to be occupied, and thought about what he should do. He didn't have the clearest memory of last night, so he probably ought to set out on his quest right away, in the event that the barkeep knew who he was. But would he even be welcomed back if he left without paying? Maybe he should just track down the others and get their money's worth.
Unfortunately, Robert didn't quite reach a decision before he heard the barkeep returning. Panicking, he shoved through the door and ran his way home, hoping to the gods that he wouldn't be tracked down.
Slamming his door shut behind him, Robert locked it and sped about the room, gathering things he would need, one way or another, while trying to determine his best chance at resolving the situation.
What does he do?
