Chapter 15 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

What's next?

Learn the true purpose of those light attacks...

With all of Sumin's armor broken, you figured Keiko should be in a pretty good spot now. Those flashing lights wouldn't mess with her vision any more, so the rest of her attacks should be precise and accurate. It looked as though Sopor's priestess' days were numbered.

As though she'd read your mind, Sopor smiled and leaned further onto the arm of her chair. "Katappashikara, I'm a hypnotist, not a light technician. Don't you think you're letting your guard down too early? If you are, that's on you, not my hypnosis," she joked. "Have you heard about how on some versions of Earth, scientists experimented with subliminal messages in TV programming? That sort of thing would never happen with Ray-V- perish the thought- but on those old TVs, color and light patterns could be use to implant certain ideas in the minds of unsuspecting viewers."

Crap... If Sopor was giving away this part of the plan, it probably meant it was too late to stop it.

"Paint needs a primer first in order to show its full, intended color. Similarly, the hypnosis of my priestess works best with that base of subliminal messaging to work off of. Your priestess doesn't know anything is wrong and, of course, part of the subliminal messaging is for her to begin ignoring your telepathy. She's a tougher cookie than you are... all of that focus, that grudge, that daily meditation, all of those factors... but no cookie is too tough for Sopor~" the Ray-V hypnotist giggled, turning her eyes back onto the show (you assumed; you couldn't actually follow their path due to her bangs).

Sure enough, Keiko had sheathed her sword. Her bright, almond shaped and colored eyes were uncharacteristically dull as she attempted to blink off what she assumed to be a soporific effect. On the other hand, Sumin, now with most of her leotard revealed, was walking forward with a matching expression, but none of the associated lethargy in her movements. She flipped her knife in one hand then caught it, holding it under-handed like she was planning to jab it into some land-bound creature.

Desperately, you tried to get your telepathy through to Keiko! Telepathy, divine inspiration, power infusion, whatever! You clenched your teeth and willed it all into Keiko, begging her to break free of the hypnotic effect. You'd seen what it could do before and you knew she couldn't afford to go there in the middle of a match!

Can you help Keiko break free of the hypnotism?
