Chapter 16 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

Can you help Keiko break free of the hypnotism?

Yes, the spell is completely broken! (25 Power)

The air around Keiko seemed to waver, as though from heat; further, her hair, in its tight ponytail, began to flap about, as though a strong wind was blowing just across the arena. Soon enough, her eyes regained their usual fierceness and she simply swung her sword through the air, blasting back the approaching Sumin so that the competitor landed gracelessly upon her ass. "Katappashikara-dono, I... felt your power just now. Have you been training? That was... unexpected," she paused, wearing an unusually shocked frown and blinking her eyes, as she tried to comprehend the weak Katappashikara exerting such divine influence. For once, she was probably glad a strong god like you was on her side.

The ordinary smile had completely fallen from Sopor's mouth. You felt elated to see an actual crack her in stage persona. "Wait... That's not possible!" she complained, her teeth clenched with exertion in a way that told you that even now, she was still attempting to channel more of the hypnotic power into Sumin and take back control of the match. "You're a master of mental control as well?! How could you have hypnotized your priestess so thoroughly?!"

You scratched your head dumbly. You were no master of mental control; you told her that plainly.

"But... I don't understand... ! I'm using a faithful priestess and augmenting her strength further with my mind control! Faith and hypnosis... they've always made Sumin stronger than any other competitor!" Sopor protested, now standing to lean over the railing and look down into the arena, as if getting closer to the action would increase the effect of her support. "How can you match that?!"

You... weren't sure how to answer. Still, you tried. You told her about all the struggles you'd gone through in the Kami Kurabe up to this point... even after being dragged here, it took tremendous courage to take the stage in front of gods who mocked you, with a priestess who hated you, against foes who you knew outranked you. Maybe the power came from courage? On the other hand... maybe Sopor's grown too complacent in victory and forgotten what it means to struggle for a goal like that?

"You think you understand what it means to have power?! Just because you put on a face like you're constipated and shoot all your stuff into your priestess?!" she spat, her twisted frown like she wanted to stomp you with her red high-heels, and not in a sexy way.

Now free, Keiko wasted no time using her sword in its original blade function, chasing down Sumin before the competitor could recover. As the girl turned to run the other way, your priestess brought the sword up, tearing a tremendous gash through the back of the enemy's oddly patterned leotard, causing it to be bisected. It didn't fall off immediately like that, but it was as good as done.

Still wordless, Sumin stood up and brandished her knife again. In response, Keiko swung her sword again, this time releasing each blade piece in a storm around her opponent; the pieces then flew inward shredding the rest of Sumin's garments expeditiously. "The priestesses are all hypnotized by their gods, but you more than most, Sumin. Return to your senses and abandon the woman you call your goddess!" Keiko demanded, requesting Sumin's forfeit...

Based on the way the judges had quickly reduced the T3 to a T2, then the T2 to a T1 judgment, you had to agree that surrender would probably be in the girl's best interest... Those blades weren't going to cut Sumin, but it couldn't be comfortable, weathering a tornado of blades like that.

((Power +4))
