Chapter 37 by neoas

What's next?

Leah's mother comes and scoops Jonny up as she holds back tears.

Just as Lena had completely disappeared, time began to move again. Jonny felt two arms under his arms before feeling himself rising off of the grounds and cradled in the chest of a very attractive black woman who's face was a mask of tears and sadness. "It's okay baby" the woman said, trying to keep herself calm as much as her daughter as she buried Jonny in her chest. Jonny wanted to push himself off of the woman and leave, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. There was something about this feeling that was strangely comforting.

He looked around at the sea of people present at the funeral. Most were black, but occasionally there was a white face or two in the crowd. Jonny tried to figure out who any of these people were, but he had no idea. Leah was too young to have any memories at this point in her life. She didn't know who any of them were either. All of them had a distinct look of sadness and loss on their face. A young boy came next to the woman that was holding Jonny and buried his face in the woman's dress. He was clearly crying.

Soon, Jonny's young eyes came to the coffin that was being lowered into the ground. Suddenly, Jonny became overcome with emotions. Against his will, tears started falling from his eyes. He wiped the tears on the dress of his mother....no, Leah's mother. He was so sad and he had no idea why. What had he done to deserve this? He felt so empty, as if the thing that he had looked up to most of all was ripped away from him and would never be given back. "Daddy!!!!" He yelled as he cried, letting all of the emotions he could feel go. Daddy was so nice. Why was daddy gone? Leah's small hands wrapped around her mother's body as the emotions came out. She felt her mother pulling her close and felt comforted but still sad. She knew her life could never be completely happy again without her daddy.

As the little girl cried into her mother's chest, a white light blinded her vision. Jonny suddenly snapped back to reality and realized who he was. For a moment, it was as if he had no longer existed, and he was lost in Leah's identity. He looked around. Where was he now. Jonny looked down and saw a bigger body. He was wearing what looked like a school girl's uniform. Leah now had more memories in her head, which told Jonny that it was her catholic school's uniform. Jonny also noticed that she was wearing a very elegant necklace with a cross on it. Tears filled his eyes as he remembered that her mom had given it to her only last year, when she was entering middle school. It had been bought by her father before she was born. He wanted to give it to her himself, but fate had other plans. Jonny sucked the emotions in and looked around the room he was in, trying to figure out what was happening now. She saw several people in black sitting at a table, crying. Jonny recognized one of them as Leah's mother, and a feeling of safety and security came over him.

He walked his now 12 year old body to the woman. "Mom...? What's the matter?" he asked. Leah's mother held back tears as she looked at her supposed daughter.

"It...it's Ty....he....he's gone, sweetie..." she said. Suddenly, the same feelings of sadness that Jonny had felt at Leah's father's funeral came back to her mind. Tears started to fill her eyes again as she ran away from the room, not wanting to believe what she had just heard. She ran upstairs to her room and locked the door, before running to her bed and burying her face in her pink pillow. Ty, or Tyrone was Leah's older brother. He was the young kid that was next to Leah's mother at her father's funeral. He was now 17 years old. Leah had once walked in on him doing **** but was sworn to silence, and didn't tell her mother, not wanting to hurt Ty's feelings. Leah kept crying into her pillow as thoughts filled her head. Why hadn't she just told her mom what Ty had been doing? Why couldn't she try to stop Ty from doing it? Why did bad things have to happen to such good people? If only daddy were here...

The thoughts were uncontrollable. In that wave of emotion, Jonny had found himself once again lost in the life and personality of Leah. He had forgotten everything about who and what he was. All that mattered was the life he was in. As Leah kept crying, there was another blast of white light, returning Jonny's senses to him and moving him to the next pathway on his journey. As this happened, Lena Mesmera watched with a pleased smile on her face. Things were working just as she had planned them to. In every step of Jonny's journey, he would lose himself just a little bit more to Leah's identity whenever she had a rush of emotion, happy or sad. Soon, Leah's soul would completely override Jonny's demonic essence. Lena would have a new apprentice to help her in her plans and Jonny would be worse than dead. He would be completely reprogrammed into a new Leah with all his powers being used in service of her mistress. Lena laughed evilly. she couldn't wait to see where Jonny went next.
