Chapter 1535

What do you do?
Launch the ship.
Vyzia uses her size and strength to tilt the boat to the side, and a few of you take branches and other brush-like tools to the hull. Then, you do the same on the other side, but even at that point, it nearly slips right off the rails. As she said, the bottle is used up quickly, and the boat isn't completely covered, though it'll hopefully be enough. Then all of you climb aboard. Ahead you can see that branches and trees have bent somewhat out of your way. Peony didn't tear the woods apart, but she did suggest it to move, and with her at the head, she can control the foliage to aid in the maneuvering of the boat. That's the plan anyway. You remain up there with her and keep her steady, while vines binding the boat stretch up to attach upon Vyzia's body.
The dragon steps forth like a horse in bridle. As she pulls, the wood creaks, the soon the ship begins sliding forward. The sails are furled and everybody braces themselves. Then, she begins to move.
Everything is steady at first. Though as she moves, the boat moves even quicker. The bottom is so slippery that it begins catching up to her, forcing her to move faster. Soon, you're dashing through the forest at alarming speeds. Peony falls back into your arms, and you tumble into Niki, who braces your fall. People shout in panic, though nobody falls loose. Thankfully people seem to be keeping on the deck, though that doesn't make it any less terrifying. It doesn't take long before the ship shoots out of the woods like squeezing a bar of soap, and with a mighty splash, Vyzia crashes into the sea, dragging the boat behind her.
After everyone recovers, the bridle is removed, and the ship nearly tilts over as Vyzia climbs up the side. She transforms in time, and falls to a knee, naked on board.
Despite the sheer amount of people boarded, nobody speaks for a lengthy moment. They're waiting--listening for something to break, or feeling for the water to pour in. But everything is fine.
"Success," Vyzia calls out. "We did it."
Everybody cheers.
Fang peeks over the edge. "It isn't great, but we aren't sinking. So we just need to sail as quickly as we can."
You then look to Gwynevere expectantly.
She steps back, bumping her rear into the railing. Her eyes trail over, to the sea, and beyond to the sun heading towards the horizon. With a deep breath, she clutches the edge of the ship and shuts her eyes. "This is nothing to me," she whispers to herself, like a mantra. "I will guide us."
"Allow me to observe from below," says Anyana. She then dives from the safety of the barrier into the sea below with a splash.
"Me as well," Nelli chimes in. After waiting for an approving nod from her mistress, she brings a boot up to the railing, and then lunges off into the ocean.
Gwynevere raises her wrist, and ends the magic of her item. Her eyes turn to meet yours once again. "You know who I am, yes?"
You stare back. "I imagine you're about to tell me."
"I am Gwynevere! The sea cannot take me, for it is my puppet to pull the strings. I know exactly what direction we should head. One of you, take the helm. The others, unfurl the sails. Heed my instructions and we fill find ourselves back to the east coast of your precious homeland. I can feel it, and it is not all that far. We are a distance from where we started, but it should not take us more than a full day or two in order to arrive."
Niki grabs the wheel and twists it with her incredible strength. The others do as she said, and open the sails wide. The immediately fill with air, pulling the ship deeper into the sea. The island survivors rejoice. Perhaps some long ago came to terms with the fact that they may never leave. Vyzia likely was this way the most. Though as a wild red dragon, she was already used to sleeping in solitude, away from others. Now she stares off the front of the ship deep in thought--spear in-hand.
You join beside her. "The direction we're going. Is it where you're from? The Empire of Tivera."
"Never been to your home," she answers.
"If you don't want a bunch of people gawking at you, feel free to ask for clothes and we'll supply, but that's up to you."
"It's up to me, then I refuse."
"Fair enough."
Peony grabs you from the back. "Silly Kyle. I don't wear clothes either."
Luna clears her throat. "Yes. I've been meaning to speak with the lot of you about that. I can't help but notice a good portion of your swimsuits are entirely gone. I spent a lot of time and effort designing and crafting each of those for everybody. Now tearing them is one thing, as I know Kyle can magically mend that, but for them to be gone entirely?"
"I'm so sorry!" Anastasia falls to her knees and bows her head low. "I betrayed your kindness."
The moth sighs. "I'm not mad. Just disappointed."
"Nooo, that's worse!"
"You're right to complain, but also, are you actually surprised?" you ask.
Luna chuckles. "Not at all, but I also can't completely let them off the hook." She then looks back to the others. "So anybody who lost their swimsuit is to help me in my shop when we return."
It's quite the large boat. Not a galleon, but it has three masts, and while you did help fix it up, now you're free to explore it fully. The captain's quarters are accessible from the deck. On the opposite side, and down the hatch in the middle, you can find various rooms, such as the large sleeping cabin where the crew is meant to stay, the sick bay, the galley, and more. Of course, the hull is below that, and you notice quite a bit of water. It isn't rushing in, but you'd rather not have this thing in the water for more than a couple days. You decide to keep checking on it. If it gets to be too much, you and the others can start scooping it out.
The captain's quarters has a desk with little left on it. A lot was found in disarray and discarded, though some remains, such as maps and navigation tools. Along with Gwynevere's guidance, you should be able to find your way home with ease. Beyond it is a nook with a bed, though there are no blankets. Those sort of luxuries weren't considered for the initial task of escape, though it's much better than sleeping on the ground.
Vyzia looms in the doorway behind you, blocking out all light from the setting sun.
"This is yours," speaks the dragon.
"Am I the captain?" you ask.
"Of course. I protect the others, but I am no sailor. Also, I prefer to sleep outside, so the room would be useless to me."
"We should get some rest after all that anyway. Maybe I'll see how comfy that bed is."
"Not as much as soft grass, or cool stone."
"I'll take your word for it."
She turns, tail smacking up against the door frame. "... Sleep well, Kyle."
You watch her depart as you approach the door. You ponder for awhile before saying your goodnights to everybody else, though pretty much everyone is on the same page of greatly desiring sleep, even if it's in cramped uncovered bunks in a rickety leaking boat.
