LYSSA GOES WITH JACK

She sheepishly looked at the ground, her face turning red with embarrassment. She looked like an idiot and didn't want anyone to look at her, all messed up like this. "Yes please," she quietly said to Jack.

It was almost gentle the way he took her hand and led her down the hall, going through one of the doors. It seemed to be some sort of guest room, with tasteless but inoffensive wall art and some floral sheets on the bed. A small dresser was the only other piece of furniture in the room. The only place to sit was on the soft, plush mattress.

Jack closed the door behind them, giving the two some privacy. The sounds of the party grew muffled and distant. Lyssa **** some more of her terrible drink down, prepared now for the burn, hoping the **** would kill her embrassment.

"Mark has talked a lot about you, you know."

That caught her attention. Jack was looking at her as the two sat down on the bed, a confidant smirk on his face. It wasn't a cruel look, but it still seemed somehow predatory.

"W-what does he say?" she asked quietly.

Jack shrugged. "Mostly he talks about how smart you are. I wasn't expecting you to be so..."

Lyssa didn't know why, but she was holding her breath, waiting for the next word. Stupid? Clutsy?

"... Beautiful."
