Chapter 7 by Garbodor23 Garbodor23

Time for battle- How do you approach?

Keep agile, wait for an opening

The bleating bastard surged forward as you uncovered your blade, his impressive leg musculature showing its capability as he covered the remaining distance in less than two bounds.

[Rolled a 14+4=18 for acrobatics]

You were prepared for this however, his bull headed approach showing a different kind of farm animal heritage, as you went low and dove off the boardwalk. Your boots crunched into the loose pebbles, softening the landing as you kept your balance and fixed your sights on the goat man. He landed awkwardly, unable to correct his momentum, and he slammed into the wall of the fishing hut, a wall buckling inwards with a crack.

A chance realized, you wasted no time throwing your torch at the thing. Its smeared through the darkness and the goat bleated with shock or surprise as the burning tip collided with his torso, sending cinders all over him. Heart still hammering you on, you grabbed at the boardwalk pillar, hoisting yourself up back onto the platform.

The goat man had dropped his pole, as he frantically patted at his chest, brushing hot embers out of his matted fur. His third eye was squinted shut, clearly not happy with bright lights. Gripping your sword in two hands, you rush forward, putting your hope into a full bodied stab to his center.

[Rolled with advantage 19+3=22 for attack]

The goat man turned, juggling threats a little too late, his legs bending into a crouch, and horns turning to try for a ram. But there was no time to maneuver and he clearly wasn't expecting to be pushed so aggressively. You felt a strange slowness to the next few moments, as you drove your sword towards him. The sensation, the resistance of the strike was jarring, and firmer than you expected. The sword cut deep, and bounced off bone, nearly twisting out of your grip had you not been holding it in two hands. You continued forward, inexorable, as you unintentionally tackled him.

You were hyper aware of your blade's angle as the two of you finished the demolition the goatman started on the near wall. The wall came apart, splintering into pieces as the heap of woman and goat brought the shed down. The leaning roof fell inwards, and there were a noisy collection of pains across your back, and left arm. It was so disorienting, that when the chaos finally slowed, you needed a second to determine which way was up.

The goatman, however, appeared more adept at shrugging off blunt impacts. He stood over your swimming vision, darkness once again the norm as the torch disappeared in the scuffle. You could tell he was bleeding heavily from a gash on his torso, but was yet standing.

[Rolled with disadvantage 1+4=5 for Acrobatics]

You tried to twist out of the way, but your limbs were not where you last remember them, and it took a few moments to free your feet from some pinching boards. The goat man let out a furious bleat, and delivered a brutal stomp, your vision filling rapidly with cloven hoof before there was a fireworks display of pain and light, then nothing as darkness rushed in to meet you.

Game over?
