Katie went home with Tom.

During the car ride home, the two friends talked about their college days and their workplace. They got to Katie's place, and Tom walked Katie to the door.

"Thank you for walking me to the door," she said with a smile.

"Yeah, no problem at all," he said hesitantly. Tom stood there with his hands in his pockets as he looked at Katie as if he wanted to say something.

Katie had seen this body language before and knew she would need to prod Tom. "You have something to say, spill, mister."

"No, it's just that earlier when Nora was in the bathroom..." he stopped as though trying to figure out how to word things.

"About you and Nora? So you do like her?" she questioned as she looked inquisitively at Tom.

"No... about the crush I had..." Tom fidgeted.

"So you did have a crush? If it wasn't Nora, was it that redhead you used to always hang out with in your business class?" she asked, visibly confused.

"No... I... it's nothing, really. It's nothing, sorry," Tom said, shaking his head.

"Tom, I have been your best friend since middle school; you know you can tell me anything, right?" Katie walked up to Tom, put a hand on his shoulder, and looked into his eyes.

"Yeah, I know. It's nothing; it's stupid. I should get going; it's late," Tom said while he looked back at her.

Katie rubbed Tom's shoulder. "I am here if you want to talk, ok?"

"Yeah, I know. See you at the office" Tom moved away from Katie and walked back to his car.
