“Frankie, come up to the front,” Mr. Harris announced.

Frankie sighed dramatically and shuffled over to the blackboard, wearing nothing but her birthday suit—a punishment she’d earned for yet another spectacular violation of school rules.

“Since you seem to know everything,” Mr. Harris said, “maybe you can solve this equation.”

Frankie stared at the blackboard.

“Nope.”

“Maybe you’d like to give it a try?”

“Nope.”

“Maybe you’d like to explain why you don’t even want to try?”

Frankie grinned. “Because, Mr. Harris, I’m going to work for my dad later anyway. I don’t need math for that.”

Mr. Harris nodded thoughtfully.

“Excellent. Then you won’t have any trouble calculating your final grade.”

He wrote a big F on the board.
