Kate was finally up. She'd been awake. She'd been awake for a while even. But she just didn't have it in her to get up. "She said, literally in the middle of trying to fucking control the movements of the other fucking players." Kate smirked.

Sigrid just flung her hands up in response. "Fuck it! Go in. Just don't blame me if River gets pissed at you."

"Sounds like a deal." Kate walked in as the taller woman stepped out of her way. Inside, River had, clearly, lost it a little bit. Surrounded by paper, River was in the middle of tearing note after note after note out of their notebook, all scribbled to frantically that River themselves would struggle with reading them, and laying them out in front of them in a kind of crazy web.

"Kate, I'm working." River smacked another piece of paper down. "Leave."

"Fuck, fine. I just wanted to thank you for last night." Kate turned to leave. Even in the state they were in, River knew the right thing to do.

Suddenly, River's whole body stood to attention. Their plan would be so much faster with help; but they were definitely in a state in which they might be exploited. "Not agreeing yet. Just going to lay out the plan."

"Basic game theory. 'You cannot control how much you win. You can control how much you lose.' The faster I lose the faster the contest ends the sooner there's a master that someone can fuck."

"So... where do I come in?"

"You throw the contest like me, I join your alliance."

"Fuck that. I'm trying to win!"

"So am I. But I can't think about winning if I can't think and I can't think without this ending ASAP. So, if you want me to be of any use to this alliance, you help me throw the first round and you throw it with me."

"Oh, so, your alliance is entirely for your benefit? That didn't take long to work out. Guess I'm not joining. Thanks for offering."

Kate chewed her lip. River wasn't wrong. She was trying to win this whole thing and an alliance was the best way to do that. At least, assuming this show worked similarly to how reality shows worked in her reality. Kate looked again at the insane, yet surprisingly well-thought out, scrawlings.

"Fuck, fine. One one condition: we try to make Danni win."

"Danni's the other member of your alliance?"

"She's at least one of the other members."

River, brain sharpened by the singular, all consuming urge to get cucked, saw right through Kate's bluff. "You only have one member."

"Fuck! Okay, yeah, Danni's the only other member. It's a show with only 7 people on it. Three's still almost a majority." Kate folded her arms, staring at River thinking. This is not how she envisioned things going.

Mental 'get a master and then get them fucked calculations' complete, River extended a hand to Kate. "Three people working towards one victory is going to be faster than just trying to lose; allies it is."

"Fucking finally." Kate eagerly shook River's hand.

"Okay, your alliance is great for my plans and all, but I'm going to need you to leave now." River stood and gestured towards the door.

"Why?"
