Karakura Town

A normal day in Karakura Town. People going about their lives, unaware of the dangers unseen around them. The Hollows that hunted on the edge of humanity's vision, angry souls lashing out as they wallow in undeath or those schemers still hiding in the shadows. But this isn't a story of a half soul reaper trying to defend his human town, or some dark threat coming to end the world.

..., well okay MAYBE that last one but not like in a 'kill/eat them all kinda way'. And at the start yes it was '**** and kill'... let's back up.

An old book keeper died and turned into a hollow, haunting his old store and the area around it trying to 'sell' books to passer bys. These books ended up taking a bite out of the buyer's funds..., and body. Of course this got the attention of the Soul Reapers, Ichigo among them. All and all it was an easy kill if a little troublesome, given that the Hollow had infused it's spirit into a large number of books in the residence. In an effort to try and clear out the books as fast as possible, SOMEONE, not naming names here..., cough, Renji and Ichigo, COUGH, decided to just bring the entire place down with a combo attack. That did the trick..., but also sent books flying all over town.

After getting a right talking to about how best to kill a multipart enemy, the town was searched and most the books were found, to the point it was decided that the hollow was killed, or at the very least couldn't reform itself. However they missed two things; one several low essense books were still out there and two, a certain Tome collected long ago was sent flying too.

It came to rest in a small tree overlooking a side street, caught in the branches and hidden by leaves. There it sat and waited, the purple cover and imp like pictures marking it. And the slight giggles coming from the tome.

Sooner or later someone would come along, the imps could sense it, and that person would be their first target. It was just a manner of time...
