Chapter 221
by bobbobbobthethir
What should you do?
Just proceed as normal
You look up at Luck, your attention torn up from your work, and from the questions you’ve had, by her sudden exclamation. With an almost sudden strike of thought, you suddenly feel the same way, thoughts and questions bubbling to your mind as you realise, yeah, it really is that hot. Despite not having felt them before, you can feel those beads forming on your forehead, and underneath your shirt, trailing down, in rivulets, as they run towards your eyes and down your chest and sides.
“Yeah,” you agree, chuckling almost nervously – even though you have no reason to be – tearing your eyes from the perspiration making its way through the thin fabric of her shirt, and to her face, her eyes. They somehow seem more sensual now – slightly lidded, blinking faster, sweat and little droplets that aren’t quite tears, dotting her lashes and moistening the slight bags underneath as well.
“If only I had a fan,” she muses, stepping back, before glancing down under the table.
You nod, before glancing over to a more welcome sight—a window, out to the side of the room, that seems fairly tightly wedged shut. Instinctively, you get up and begin to make your way over to it, which Luck replies to with a quick and slightly exasperated sigh.
“That’s been stuck for ages,” she tells you—to which you reply with a firm pull, which somehow pulls it up, and introduces to the both of you a stiff breeze of air.
“Guess it wasn’t that stuck,” you say, smiling, as you make your way back over to your seat, earning an appreciative smile from her.
“Work like that deserves a reward,” she tells you, bending over before she continues, like she’s about to let you in on a secret. “Here’s a little hint on the problem.”
She points at one of the equations you have written down, and says: “Try bounding the Riemann integral with the EVT.”
You scribble down her suggestion, starting to understand where this is going now.
“And you see how you almost have your definition here?” she says.
“I just need to take the limit and send it to zero,” you say, nodding along.
“That’s the way to do it,” she agrees.
You smile, saying: “Thanks for the help! I’ve been stuck on this problem for too long, and none of my friends could crack it either.”
“I won’t stop you from sharing the solution with them,” she says.
You’re already texting Christina and Ruby the answer as you head out of Professor Luck’s office, and you sneak one last quick, cheeky smile her way before she disappears from your line of sight.
