Joining the fray

I knew I sounded cocky and arrogant, but I needed that in all honesty. I was scared, frightened, almost terrified... but I couldn’t let these emotions get the best of me. The man pointed me to a section n the front where a dozen of peasants were getting ready to mount a counter-offensive in order to free the party that was captured in the morning and off I went.

I managed to join them mere minutes before they headed out. They were happy to see another fighter joining their ranks, especially one with a much better equipment than theirs. Seeing how happy they were to greet me should’ve been an immediate red flag. It should’ve told me something... our offense had almost no chance of succeeding. However, I was too inexperienced to understand that.

Our party was intercepted just a few minutes after we started. We were almost immediately crushed, but fortunately, there were no fatalities. The orcs wanted us alive, it seemed. Soon, I was about to find out why...
