Chapter 2 by bobsaggotsdad bobsaggotsdad

Where does this device land?

Johnathan, a 26-year old down on his luck(faster branch)

Of course, John didn't WANT to be unemployed, but he simply couldn't stand being stuck at his old job any longer. The hours were grueling, his boss was mean, and there was just literally zero point to any of it. Zero chance of promotion, zero chance of a raise, zero chance of self-respect.

Still, he was making good money so it was a hastily made decision that his step-father did not approve--a disagreement that got him kicked out of the house. He'd done it in a way that gave him a chance to beg her for forgiveness, but John felt like there was no real point. He was twenty and capable of figuring things out on his own. His Mom disagreed, but his Dad insisted that he move out immediately if he was to remain "a deadbeat."

"Let me know where you're living as soon as you have a place, Son." His dad said to him. "I'll keep in touch. Good luck."

His mom stayed quiet, unable to disagree with his father.

The first couple of weeks were hard. Though, John had some money saved up and managed to get a part-time job at a local coffee shop so he managed to get by. The hours were long and the pay was miserable, but at least the atmosphere was light. John felt like his co-workers at least cared for him, which was a welcome change. It also gave him a place to browse the web and apply for jobs that might better suit his qualifications. He'd rather do anything than go back to that stupid office job, even if he had to work the register at a coffee shop.

It was while scrolling through new job listings that John noticed a strange pop-up ad that he'd never seen before:

"4th Dimensional Editor - Control the minds, bodies, and reality of the universe around you!"

The advertisement itself looked like a hoax. It had a cheesy, obviously fake picture of a woman with exaggerated features and a cartoon smile. She was dressed in a tight red dress with matching lipstick, and the overall look made John want to click away. But something about it drew his curiosity. He clicked.

"4th Dimensional Editor" was the title on the top of the page, but the rest of the description was barren at best without even a single review or download. There was, however, a single bright green button that said, "FREE UNLIMITED TRIAL". John was hesitant to click it, but curiosity got the better of him and he pressed on. To his surprise, the program was installed immediately.

"What the-" John mumbled as the program launched, displaying a clean but barebones user interface. There were only three icons, "Body Editor", "Mind Editor", and "Reality Editor".

Which does he select?
