Does she get disturbed?
John visits her at Work
The hum of the office air conditioner droned in the background, punctuated by the rhythmic clacking of keyboards. Nicole stared at her monitor, the spreadsheet blurring into a grey haze of numbers. A pair of strong arms suddenly wrapped around her shoulders, squeezing tight.
"Surprise!" Nicole jumped, her mouse skidding across the desk and sending her cursor flying. She spun around to find John grinning, his eyes bright with mischief.
"John? What are you doing here?"
"Lunch date," he said, planting a loud, wet kiss on her cheek. "I figured you needed a break from the grind. My treat."
"Mr. Jefferson!" Nicole gasped as the boss emerged from his glass-walled office. The bald man stepped forward, his polished shoes clicking on the linoleum. He wore a smirk that didn't reach his eyes. He extended a hand, his grip firm and lingering.
"You must be John. The lucky husband," Jefferson said, his voice an oily glide. "I'm Arthur Jefferson. Pleasure to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, sir. I'm just stealing her for an hour."
Jefferson’s gaze slid from John to the curve of Nicole’s hip, lingering there for a heartbeat too long.
"Of course. We value dedication here. Nicole has been... most illuminating lately. She has a way of handling pressure that is truly impressive."
Nicole stiffened, her spine turning to ice.
"Thank you, Mr. Jefferson," she whispered.
"Indeed. It's fascinating how some people hide such vivid talents behind a professional facade. Don't you think, John? A little hidden passion can make all the difference."
John laughed, oblivious. "I bet. She's a firecracker."
Jefferson chuckled, the sound dry and hollow. "I've seen the proof. Enjoy your lunch, you two."
