Chapter 2

Who are you?
John, a man living with his childhood best friend.
You look up from your phone as Naomi bustles through the living room. 7:15AM, time to brew coffee. You shake your head and chuckle at the predictability. She wasn't always like this of course. The two of you have been best friends since diapers, and for most of that time she was... flaky? Scattered? Whatever the polite way to say 'Pure Chaos' is.
When she missed a major job interview a few years ago, because she mixed the dates up. She lost it. Top 10 most distraught you'd ever seen her. Even worse then when she got dumped by her first ever girlfriend. Ever since then she's been taking her schedule more and more seriously. At first you were proud of her, showing signs of maturity, stability. But... she started to take it way too far, like religiously adhering to her calendar.
You're still proud of her of course, but that doesn't stop you from teasing her mercilessly about it. "Mornin' Nae." You greet her, already grinning. "Don't forget to schedule a morning piss break, you know how the coffee goes right through you." You say with a chuckle.
"Really dude? That wasn't funny the first time you said it, and it certainly hasn't been funny the last hundred times." She say with roll of her eyes.
"Made me laugh." You reply still grinning.
Naomi snorts, not bothering to turn around to humor you with the look of playful derision you know is on her face. After all, she needs to have the coffee brewing by no later then 7:18AM or it won't be done in time. "You're such a dork dude." She says with a sigh of fond exasperation.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm a dork says the schedule queen." You chuckle looking back down at your phone and checking your own schedule for the day. It almost feels dirty to open up your own calendar app after seeing how Naomi practically worships hers, but you remind yourself that you use your calendar like a normal sane person. Snorting at the ridiculousness of having to remind yourself of that.
The coffee pot lets out it's bubbly **** rattle, signaling the brewing is complete and your eyes flick up to the clock in the corner of your screen. 7:18AM. Right on schedule. You chuckle and shake your head before flicking your calendar over to next week. "Oh, speaking of you're insane need to schedule everything. Are we still going to the state fair next week?" You ask her. "I know you've been looking forward to seeing that lame old band you like perform there, but I haven't gotten a calendar invite from you. Which either means you changed your mind, or you plan to die this week."
"Shit! I forgot!" She says mixing coffee and cream into her travel mug with jerky annoyed motions. "and AC/DC is not a lame band, they're just old, and you like them too." She scolds you. "You know you can't play the 'cool kid' with me right dude? I've literally seen you cry from watching a cartoon."
"First, Pokemon is more than just a cartoon, and second, how could you not cry when Ash walked away from Pikachu like that!" You yell back at her.
She smirks at you, a twinkle of victory in her eyes from getting under your skin. Then she glances at the time on her phone and grimaces. "I don't have time to add it to my calendar. I have to leave for work. Can you just forward me the invite?" She asks, already screwing the lid down on her coffee and moving past you toward the door.
"No can do Nomes. You set up automatic rejection on shared events remember?" You remind her.
"Fuck!" She snarls, stopping dead and tapping angrily at her phone screen. "There, I sent you an access link to my calendar, it's good for the next two hours. I expect to see the state fair on my calendar next week." She says, picking her things back up and dashing for the door. "And only the state fair!" She yells back at you before the door thunks shut behind her.
You look down at your phone and tap the link to access her calendar. You add "Lame band at the State Fair" to her calendar and save it. Just when you're about to close out of the app you notice that the place where the little timer is supposed to be is blank, not "2 hour access" badge anywhere. Curiosity piqued you dig around the settings and your lips split in a wide grin when you realize she accidentally sent you a full access link, with no expiration.
Do you prank her calendar?

Calendar Control
If it's on their calendar the don't question it.
In an ever more busy life, the loss of control and the stress of everything they need to do warring with everything they want to do grows by the day. The fear of wasting moments, of missing the meeting, of not remembering to take time for themself. It all adds up. How do they handle it without going insane? How do they cope without sacrificing even one precious moment, one priceless opportunity? By giving up control to the all powerful, and all knowing calendar app. It's freedom and control all in one. If it's on their calendar, then it's part of their schedule. They don't have to worry, or stress, or think twice. Anything they want or need to do, just put it on their calendar and when the time comes. Obey their calendar. Absolutely. After all, they set the schedule so they're just obeying themselves right? But what if you got access to their calendar? Maybe they gave you a link so you could add some events you were both going to, but forgot to set an expiration on the share? Maybe they left their phone out one night, and you added yourself as a joke. However it happens, without realizing it at first, you now have a level of control over their life that is absurd. Will you use it to help them, or to help yourself?
