Jimmy Believes You

Jimmy stares at you worryingly, then back at the knob, and back to you. You could smell the gears in his head turning. You realized how insane you sounded, but Jimmy knew you for years now, and he was processing how he should act. Slowly he lifts his hand off of it, and steps back.

"Fuck, if this is some prank I'm going to beat your ass."

You don't comment, instead you both just stare at the door. You only now notice how eerily quiet it had become. Did Harriet leave? Was she really not the imposter and you had just panicked? The silence feels like an eternity. You're open you mouth to-

-BAM-

you and Jimmy stare at the door, both in equal confusion. The fuck was that? Wait, is Harriet...

-BAM-

"The fuck?!" Yoyr confused friend asks. His face changed from one of fear to one of terror.

You stare at the door then back at Jimmy. You realize what's going on, the imposter-

-BAM-

"HE'S KICKING IT IN!" You yell at your friend in panic. His face is horrified, and you immediately spring into action, looking for an escape route.

-BAM-- CRRRKK!!

the door started to crack! "The window!" You yell, but Jimmy is frozen in fear. You run up to him and shake him up, pulling him out of his trance.

-BAM-

A piece of wood fell from the door. It could only take one or two more hits. Jimmy grabs a wallet and car keys as you open the window. His room was on the second floor, but you both didn't care. Jimmy jumped down first, and you-

-BLAM-

you look back from the window edge, seeing the door slam open. Harriet stepped in her usually warm face cold as a corpse. Her expression was dead, and her eyes were like a tiger hunting its prey. That being you. She aims the pen at you and with no hesitation shoots. You duck and barely manage to avoid the beam, jumping out of the window. You land on your leg, not bein able to land properly like Jimmy because of the panic. You felt a sharp pain, but without a second thought you got up. Jimmy's car pulls up on the road in front of you. "GET IN!"

you open the back door and jump in, and before it even closes Jimmy kicks down the gas and bolts out of there.

You stared back at his home in dread as it quickly grew distant. The imposter was nowhere to be seen.

You fall back in your sit in relief, sighing the biggest breath of your life. Your head was in you hands, and you felt like crying. You felt so helpless, but you made progress. You had Jimmy on your side.
