Chapter 5 by Koriandr Koriandr

What did Jason do?

Jason flees to Zatanna's dressing room for clues.

The lights, the cheering, the audience that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. It was overwhelming. Not to mention suddenly going from Red Hood, brutal vigilante feared by Gotham's underbelly, to Zatanna Zatara, sexy stage magician, was a little jarring too. He must have looked odd, shooting a nervous glance down at his buxom cleavage then back at the adoring crowd waiting quietly now for a show.

Deciding not to play into the hands of whatever mystical **** caused all of this nonsense, Jason beelined for the backstage as fast as she could without tripping on her heels.

Jason's exit was met with a mixture of surprised gasps, murmurs, and a smattering of confused applause. The curtains swished shut behind her, and she found herself backstage, where stagehands hustled and bustled, preparing for the big act. They seemed just as surprised to see "Zatanna" in such a hurry.

She pushed past racks of outfits and curtains, her focus solely on getting out of there. However, with every step, Jason was hindered by unfamiliarity. The heels of her shoes were taller than anything she'd ever worn, causing a jarring change in her gait. The weight of her new breasts, the constriction of the corset, the unfamiliar sensations of long raven hair against her back — it was all so alien, so strange. But right now, finding an exit was the only priority.

Navigating the chaos backstage, Jason spotted a door to her left labeled "Zatanna's Dressing Room." She reached out, yanking it open, and slipped inside. The sounds of the theater audience faded, and she felt a momentary relief.

But he knew he couldn't just relax. First, he needed to figure out what happened. She took a moment to lean against the wall and process the situation. The wand... It had done this. She looked down at it in his hand, debating if he should try and use it again or keep it at bay.

Taking in the room, she was greeted by a rack of different costumes, likely for her stage performances, next to a large vanity mirror, "Zatanna" in cursive lights above it. She took in her new reflection. The face staring back was Zatanna’s, but with the fierce smouldering intensity that was unmistakably Jason's. She noticed how the leotard hugged her new form, how his toned arms and legs were now slender and graceful. The curve from her thin waist to her wide hips and ample fishnetted thighs. Her face reddened as she caught her gaze staring just a little too long.

"Focus, Jason, this is you..." She muttered. Her fingers fumbled for the wand, tempted to wave it and undo the transformation. But she hesitated.

Magic did this, magic could probably undo it.... but what if she only made things worse?

She sighed. Magic had always been a wild card in her book, unpredictable and often volatile. The last thing she wanted was to escalate the situation further by mishandling Zatanna's wand.

Jason started rummaging through the vanity drawers, looking for anything that might provide a clue. Notes, spell books, any hint about how Zatanna used her wand and what kind of safety measures she might have put in place. Amidst the various makeup products and stage props, she found a diary. Embossed on the leather cover was an ornate ‘Z’.

Flipping through it quickly, he realized it was more of a spellbook than a diary. Descriptions of spells, incantations, notes on wand techniques – it was all there. But with the overwhelming volume of information, where was she to start? She really wished Zatanna, the real one, was with her, wherever she had gone. At first she suspected a villain had kidnapped her or something along those lines, but after suddenly becoming her, maybe her disappearance was magic related..?

Near the middle of the book, a page was bookmarked. It detailed a spell about bodily transmutations, which seemed relevant to Jason's current situation. Reading further, she found a cautionary note about ensuring clarity of intent and focus during transformation spells. Zatanna had noted: “Transmutations are tricky. Always visualize the outcome vividly.”

"Great, but I definitely didn't visualize... this..." she glanced down at her breasts then back to the page. Whatever made Zatanna disappear, maybe that was what turned Jason into a copy of her as well? Could it have been a complex spell gone awry?

What did Jatanna do?
