Has Dr. Baxter given up on his plan to use muscular exertion to reduce the impact of the Blush?
It is (at best) only part of the solution
Dear Sir Williard,
Five days have passed since my last entry. There has been no particular reason for this lapse other than the stated purpose of my original letter, it is my hope that these notes will provide the reader greater understanding of the particular challenges that the colonists on Rajah-4 face, not a licentious account of my sexual prowess. Although, during this week nothing new or different has impelled me to write, I feel it is important to provide a faithfully account of my life.
Nothing my lord, would make me happier than to report the success of my plan to use physical exertion to calm the needs that have overtaken my life and apparently the lives of all the colonists on this otherwise Eden of a planet, however at best this strategy could be only part of the solution. My life has settled into a shameful routine that is far from ideal.
Each morning at dawn I take out the shell and scull up the river for about 30 minutes and then return. Once home I return to my room where I am met by Akemi, who tends to my morning needs. Twice this week the pretty young maid used her amazing mouth, but more often than not I prefer to feel her slender body writhing under mine on the great bed. I will omit the sordid details of these morning trysts but once again I urge you my lord, should you ever get the chance, to determine for yourself just how pleasing a trained geisha can be. Not only is Akemi a lovely creature with soft smooth skin whose large dark almond shaped eyes are delightfully expressive, but she is wonderfully inventive and skilled in the nature of all things sexual. I realize now how simple I, (and many other British subjects) are when it comes to the act of coupling. Already I have been introduced to several new positions and postures which change the nature of the act, and Akemi has led me to believe that the are close to a hundred other named positions that she has been trained in.
Perhaps one of the greatest revelations I have to report is that the female parties in these unions can feel some of the same primitive pleasures that the males experience; furthermore I find that bringing Akemi to these female climaxes provides me with as much satisfaction as I feel from my own release. I now better understand why the moans and cries of the prostitutes that serve the students of King's College quicken the pace of the young men's ejaculation. Clearly, no British doctor would want to pursue an investigation of this phenomenon when it would be impossible to publish the results in any reputable journal, but I wonder if perhaps the more open culture of the East has enabled their peoples to discover some of the mysteries of the fairer sex that have to this point evaded our scholars.
I have digressed. After washing away the evidence of my morning's vigorous activities, Akemi shaves me and I dress in freshly pressed white trousers and jacket that are laid out by Andrews each morning. I walk to Dr. Miller's offices where I spend most of my day treating patients in the traditional sense. I have now fulfilled my additional obligation to Dr. Miller on a half dozen occasions, providing stud services to (what I can only assume were) some of the finest matrons of Rajah-4. I could not say who these women were, even if it were my nature to gossip, as invariably I would enter the room only after the fine Lady in question had been layed out upon a examination table behind the privacy of a screen that covered her from the waist up. I could see only the pale white legs of the woman spread wide in stirrups before me, with the now beneficial effect of the Blush I had little trouble rising to the occasion, in fact by using my new-found knowledge of the female anatomy I find I have little trouble not only filling their wombs with my virile seed but also stimulating the Lady into experiencing significant amounts of sexual pleasure.
I find that these duties are not anywhere nearly as onerous as I had once anticipated. Not knowing the identities of the patients in question turns out not to be much of a factor at all, in fact Sir Williard, the element of mystery adds in a very perverse way to the pleasure I find in these new duties. That I have met all of these women, I am sure. In the course of my morning rounds I would be invited by Dr. Miller to join him and several fine Ladies for tea and pastries in his office. The real purpose of these little morning teas are for these wealthy wives of the company's executives to assess the appropriateness of the seed that might be fertilizing their eggs. I would be questioned most about my family, and education; often times one or more of these ladies would find an excuse to palpate my biceps or feel the muscles of my thigh much like I was a bullock in a country fair - which really is not far from the truth. Later that same day, it is my belief that one or more of those same Ladies were spread open before me whimpering with pleasure as I did my best to implant a new British citizen in the womb of the unknown client. Understandably at this point these women were not interested in small talk, or for that matter talk of any kind other than the occasional outburst of crude profanities intended (I suspect) to stimulate me into spilling as much sperm as possible into their wombs.
I found however, Sir Williard, that in the morning these same elegant women are quite pleased to have the chance to meet me and I found them quite entertaining. These women although easily as old as my mother and her friends were both physically fit and genuinely charming although like most of their gender lacking in rigorous intellectual discipline. I was questioned about the fashions being worn in Paris and London (of which I knew essentially nothing), the various scandals involving the royal family (of which I knew even less) and also on two separate occasions about the hauntings of my villa and whether I had been troubled by the spirit of Katheryn Alterson.
During the course of these pleasant discussions I have determined that Miss Alterson drowned while fleeing a River Pirate raid, her poor body swept away in the swollen waters of the Arjun. It took only a little prodding on my part to get these gossipy women to disclose how her badly decomposed body (wearing only a short nightgown) was found for over a month later trapped in a tangle of roots when the waters receded. Just like what I heard from Miss Alice, her troubled spirit had since been spotted floating along on the river or peering in through the windows of her former home. As is often the case in these reports of the supernatural, none of the witnesses were trained observers. In fact, quite the opposite is true, the sightings were typically made by inebriated or exhausted Hindustani workers during the very early morning hours or late in the night. For my part, I was far more interested in hearing more about the River Pirates who are not by any accounts phantasmal apparitions, but rather a well documented periodic hazard to those dwelling along the planets rivers.
I was as surprised as you, Sir Williard, to learn of this new and as far as I can recall (at least on Earth) unreported danger to the brave colonists of this new frontier. From the ladies in Dr. Miller's gathering I have gleaned the following information: The raiders usually appear on the rivers in springtime especially on nights with clear skies and full moons. Groups of up to twenty masked men arrive in fast-moving power boats not unlike my own Anna-Leigh. The raiders travel along the flooded waterways, swarming over vulnerable riverfront properties, stealing valuables, destroying property and most heinously of all savagely raping any and all of the women that fall into their clutches. Then my lord, before the local authorities have a chance to mobilize and hunt down these raiders, they turn their boats back up the river and disappear into the vastness of untamed wilds. Thankfully I have several months before the spring floods and the return of this new threat to my villa and the safety of my staff. At the moment I have more pressing concerns.
You might think, your lordship, that after spending myself so improperly in the services of Dr. Miller that I would be more than satisfied sexually by the time I was dismissed in the afternoon, but that turns out not to be the case. In part I suspect this is because, as often as not, as I am leaving the clinic I see one of the many daughters of the officers of the East Orion Company arriving to be 'treated' by Dr. Miller in his most unconscionable manner. These young ladies are invariably breathtakingly attractive, and knowing that my mentor would be spending the next hour abusing these innocent beauties and in some cases even enjoying their tight young bodies has me aroused and eager for sex by the time I get home. I am afraid to report Sir Williard that I take out much of my frustration out on poor Hilda. Luckily I have found that this buxom lass is not only quite often in need of firm discipline but is also noticeably excited by the feel of my hand upon her quivering backside. By the time I am ready to plunder her body she is dripping with excitement and I am able to use her without restraint. Only then am I able to set aside the lustful needs that hold me hostage and set my mind to restoring the cottage that is under my care.
Usually before dining I inspect the grounds, I walk around the cottage admiring the phenomenal improvement in the property. In particular the boathouse has been cleared of weeds and the roof re-shingled by my industrious gardener. I am considering moving my household into the safety of this structure when the spring flooding arrives next year, at least on the nights of full moons. The building resembles a medieval keep with thick stone walls, narrow windows no more than a few inches wide and a heavy timbered roof. Even the doors are made of a hardened native tree reinforced with thick iron bands.
It has been explained to me that the reason the boathouse so much resembles a military redoubt is because of its origins. This solid stone building housed the Hindi workers as they cleared the nearby land and built the fine cottage that I now inhabit. In those early days of settlement this area was still untamed and wild fauna would regularly take the lives of the many of the Hindustani workers. Since learning of this history, I have examined the walls of the stone building and found deep scratches left by the claws of these dangerous beasts. I can only imagine the strength needed to rake furrows in the hard stone blocks that formed what is now a simple boathouse.
I have also worked on the Anna-Leigh with the help of Andrews; we have lowered her into the river and confirmed that her hull is in good shape. Initially I was concerned as there was a great deal of water seeping between her hull-planks requiring constant pumping of her bilge, but after sitting in the river water for several hours the planks have swollen shut and she now floats easily with almost no leakage. Her steam engine however, has been far more frustrating. My expertise, as you know, lies in the human machine and Andrew's in Somatics, neither of us have the skills needed to master the steam engine aboard the steamer. We have fired the box and raised steam easily enough and the pistons turn, but not with sufficient force or speed to turn the propellers. I hope to report more success at the start of the next month when I receive my first allocation from the Company.
This lack of funds has also limited my ability to refurbish my house, although I have now procured, on credit, beds for all my staff, a dining room table to eat upon and provisions to last the month. It was surprisingly easy to get these items as word of my position spread rapidly throughout town as well as where I was living and the identities of my staff. Andrews informed me that several venders had approached him and made it clear that a delay of a month or two in payment was of no great matter to them as I was surely a man of my word. I suspect I could retain a man to work on the Anna-Leigh on similar terms but I have always been conservative in my finances and find it difficult to go further into debt for an unnecessary luxury like a power-craft to cruise upon the river.
And so, after dining on my fine new table, I retire to my office to complete my correspondence and read up on the various conditions that afflict the citizens of Rajah-4. My library has yet to arrive from Kandar, but Dr. Miller has been most generous loaning volumes from his office and so I sometimes read well into the night trying to learn as swiftly as possible what everyone else (even the orderlies and nurses like Saminya) in Dr. Miller's clinic already know.
I have written enough for now my Lord, I will endevour to add to this letter, and as soon as I have the funds, I will send it to you so that you may advise me as you see fit.
