How goes the date?
It ends chastely
A/N: Anyone here fallen into the Vtuber rabbit hole?
Ezechiel nervously waited for his date at the park, twiddling his fingers and pursing his lips with worry.
Oh my God, why do I feel so nervous? He thought, All those romance mangas and shows make it seem so simple...!
Not that he would admit it to anyone, but though he had many female friends, Kazuko was literally his first ever girlfriend; he landed many misses back when he tried asking other girls out, and this was his first hit.
Only time will tell if this was a success.
And then, Kazuko arrived.
She was breathtaking; elegant, beautiful and mature, she radiated all three qualities in spades. The evening breeze and falling leaves created an atmosphere of beautiful tranquility, breathtaking and eye-catching. Kazuko's black hair fluttering in the wind, her calm brown eyes and her soft skin was the very depiction of artful beauty.
Ezechiel felt his breath taken away, and he hurriedly approached Kazuko, saying, "G-Good evening, Kazuko-san. You look stunning today."
"Thanks," Said Kazuko, "Shall we take a walk?"
"S-Sure thing," Said Ezechiel.
The park was right next to a river, crystal clear and glittering like a sea of diamonds, and the scent of fresh water added a comforting feel to their date as they walked by, families and kids and couples alike delighting in its soothing embrace.
As they walked by, Ezechiel felt nervous and tried his best to remain calm, holding Kazuko's hand tightly.
"It's good weather we have, Kazuko-san," Said Ezechiel, "And I have to say, this is a good spot you picked.
"Thanks," Said Kazuko, "It's usually where I go to take a walk to destress."
"I see," Said Ezechiel, "So... how's things?"
"Good," Said Kazuko, "Though it's also a little boring."
"Boring? Like with work?" Asked Ezechiel.
"Well, it's work," Said Kazuko, "What else is it if not boring?"
"Haha, you do have a point," Said Ezechiel, "So, what would you like to do next?"
"Hmm... how about a game of cards?" Said Kazuko, "I happen to have a pair brought with me."
"Sure thing!" Said Ezechiel.
The next hour was spent playing cards at one of the park's free tables, and though Ezechiel lamented losing almost every single round to Kazuko (winning one by sheer luck), to him it was some of the most fun time in his life. He felt himself smiling every time, his heart aflutter with joy.
Then, he heard his stomach rumbling, and he rubbed his head in embarrassment.
"Shall we have dinner?" Ezechiel asked.
"Sure thing," Said Kazuko, "Come, I know this great place to eat!"
Being led by the hand was a surreal and new experience for Ezechiel - nothing like how Abirit would do so.
The restaurant they arrived at was a more classic western-styled store, though the menu had a fair few Japanese options from Onigiri to Ochazuke. Decorated with light and soothing colours, the atmosphere was perfect for families and romantic couples.
Ezechiel ordered a simple doria set with some iced green tea, while Kazuko ordered a hamburger stake set with a cup of piping hot lemon tea.
"Mm, this is quite good," Said Ezechiel, "Western restaurants in Singapore don't really serve Doria, as far as I know."
"It's my go-to place for a quick fix," Said Kazuko, "Found it back when I was in college."
"That must have been a while ago," Said Ezechiel.
"Tell me about it," Said Kazuko, "So tell me, how's your experience living in Japan so far?"
"Well, definitely not what I thought it would be," Said Ezechiel, "The work culture is just... overwhelming. I mean, I wouldn't say jobs in Singapore are easier, but here it's quite tiring, and... well, the pay is underwhelming, I must say, compared to some other part-time jobs I took."
"I get you," Said Kazuko, "Last time, I had to balance my studies and part-time jobs so I could keep food on my plate and pay my rent. I admit that I do have it easier, but still."
Ezechiel then asked, "So what do you do in your spare time?"
"Well... I don't really go out much," Said Kazuko, "Really, I'm more of an indoor person, watching TV and reading books and stuff."
"Huh, well I do happen to be a similar sort of person; don't really go out except for watching movies, playing at the arcades or visiting my friends," Said Ezechiel.
"I see," Said Kazuko.
Before long, they exited the restaurant with full bellies.
"Whew, that was a good dinner," Said Ezechiel, "Thanks for recommending this restaurant, Kazuko-san!"
"My pleasure," Said Kazuko, "Why not we take a short walk, just for a while longer?"
"Sure!" Said Ezechiel.
It was now 7.30pm, and the sun had long set in the distance, paving the way for the autumn moon's ascension and the manifestation of heaven's beauty in the form of twinkling stars. The lampposts at Yusako Park cast a gentle glow on the grass and shrubs, painting them in gold and silver.
Ezechiel huffed as he rubbed his hands, a cold mist escaping his mouth.
"Damn, it's really cold," Said Ezechiel.
"Is this your first autumn?" Asked Kazuko.
"Well, yes," Said Ezechiel, "I've only ever been to hotter countries with a tropical climate, so this cold's a first for me."
"Well, it gets worse in winter, so you just need to get used to it," Said Kazuko.
"At least it beats getting hot and sweaty," Said Ezechiel.
Kazuko laughed softly, saying, "I guess it does beat Summer."
They sat down at a bench, overlooking the river and the brightly glowing Moon above.
"It's a beautiful moon," Said Ezechiel.
"Mm..."
Kazuko smiled as she stole a glance at Ezechiel, the young boy looking radiant in the moonlight.
"Thanks for today," Said Kazuko, "It was... memorable."
"Glad you enjoyed my company," Said Ezechiel.
And then, Kazuko kissed him on the lips, surprising the young lad.
"There, my first kiss," Said Kazuko, "Make sure you remember it, okay?"
"Well, it was my first, too," Said Ezechiel, "So... when can we date again?"
"Well, how about next week, same day, same time?" Asked Kazuko.
"Sure, sure thing," Said Ezechiel.
"Then, I'll be seeing you," Said Kazuko.
And so, a fruitful date concludes
