It doesn’t change, and you become a Steel Corp employee, receiving your AI-O Assistant

Your heart beats like a drum as you read your acceptance into becoming a Steele Corp worker — a pretty cushy job, too, from the sounds of it. You could breeze by with this AND school, it was almost too easy. Your birthday had come and gone, and now is the day of your model’s delivery.

Your head swims with a mixture of doubts and excitement.

“What if the assistant isn’t all it chalks up to be?”

“What am I gonna do with the model first?”

“What if it doesn’t come today? It’s shipping from off-world, after all.”

“What if I got duped, and I’m not actually an employee and they just phished me for my info and this isn’t actually a job? What if… what if…”

A series of sharp raps on your university apartment door shakes you back to reality. You hurry over the the projector of who’s outside. It’s a delivery person — one with a huge box.

“Delivery! Steele Corp employee.”

“Y-yes! Be right there.”

You dash over to the door, swinging it open. The delivery driver looks you up and down before frowning and saying: “Hmmm. You the one? You look a little young to be a Steele Corpie.”

“21’s the minimum age, and I applied the day of my birthday a couple of weeks ago.”

“Fine. ID?”

You go through a series of questions, your anxiousness building and no doubt showing to the gruff delivery driver. They have you sign to confirm receipt, and you’re soon left with a box the size of a fully adult person. You drag it inside, and to your surprise, its weight is far lighter than you imagined. Maybe it’s all those carbon fiber and graphine parts.

Not one of your roommates is home for the afternoon — that’s a relief. Placing the box in the middle of the living room, you position the “face when opening” marker for a relatively open space. On the reverse side, you find a packing slip with all the details of your model. By the way, what choices did you make again…? Firstly, what ethnicity did you plan for your model to initially be?
