Among the spirits
A badly thought dying wish
“I would have liked to know how to please women” —That was the, in later embarrassing retrospective, last thought of Jason, a healthy 18 years old young man before abandoning life after a very unlucky accident involving a used car he got as a gift from his parents and the terrible decision of looking at some random girl passing by while he was trying to get ahead of a truck.
Things turned dark, then light, then sound, feeling of touch, lack of sense, incomprehensible seems like a good way to describe the “this” he went through. Even making a thought in the "there" was hard.
And then, light and rain from above, a cloudy sky, and a mesmerizing lack of something.
“What th-” —only a thought was formed, no sound was made, it could not be made.
He tried to look at himself, but he couldn't, there was nothing there, but a sensation of just about to fall but never quite doing so. It was certainly repulsive but Jason got used to it in no time. As if that was the norm. It was the norm. Still is for the condition he's in that he's about to be aware of soon.
Jason felt like he was about to panic, he couldn't, the feeling of anxiety could not reach a peak, in fact, no particular emotion of his was being felt at high peaks, he could just calmly reason, and decided to “look around”.
A cemetery, then he looked back, and he could see a gravestone with his details, had this been another occasion he would have freaked for days after seeing such thing, but he was, accepting?, Hard to explain, he wasn't feeling it... No, he was feeling it. Just not achieving the expected reaction that a normal human would get from seeing a legitimate gravestone confirming their death, he was not faking calmness, he simply couldn't achieve emotional highs, the usual combination of emotions that would lead to a freakout was there, yes, but not in the levels necessary to reach a meltdown.
So Jason stared at the monument of his terrenal end, slightly sad, confused and somewhat mad about how he could recall now why he's, most certainly, dead.
He thought about moving near a shallow pool of water and took a look to what he was right now, a small ball, it looked like smoke but so clear and inconspicuous that it sometimes completely banished or wasn't there.
“Ghost?”—Was the best explanation he could give to himself right now, not even thinking too much that he wasn't even a “he” or even a thing worth of being called an “it” anymore. He was no object, only an essence. One that didn't even qualify as a physical object.
He decided to think of himself as Ghost or spirit of sorts as of right now, and thought about if he had any of the abilities pertaining to such an entity.
