In the Dining Hall

Blair sat down alone in the corner of the on campus dining hall. She’d only been at Kroslak a month. And as a freshman that meant two things. She’s been here long enough to had slowly fallen into a schedule but not long enough to have made any meaningful friends.

Sure there was her roommate that she liked. And their were a bunch of others that she had met around her dorm and at the few parties that she’d tried to go too. But nothing meaningful just yet. And that was fine. It just meant that on Tuesdays and Thursdays (like today) her schedule didn’t line up with anyone else’s so she had to eat lunch alone.

This was one of the many reasons that Blair had attempted to rush a sorority. It wasn’t recommended for first semester freshman like her to rush but she figured that she wanted to try anyway. Coming to Kroslak meant a fresh start. And a Sorority promised access to all that Kroslak had to offer including a built in set of new friends.

But it had not been meant to be. She’d not gotten a bid to any of the sororities. Which hadn’t surprised her. A lot of people told her that first semester freshman rarely got in. She’s tried to tell herself that that was the reason. Until she found out that her roommate and two other girls from her dorm alone had gotten bids.

In truth Blair knew the reason. These Sororities did rigorous digging into their potential pledges. And I’m Blair’s case that meant digging into Blair’s tarnished high school reputation. But she shock that thought off and back to the back of her mind where she liked to keep it. The past was in the past. This was a fresh start and it would only take a little while to leave that incident in the past. She’d try again next semester and she was sure by then she would’ve cemented herself in a couple of new campus clubs and would prove to any Sorority that she would be a worthy member.

Or so she thought. Until her quiet lunch alone was interrupted.
