Chapter 6 by Adova Adova

What does she say?

I wish I was happy.

Morgana sighed. There really only was one secret to life, happiness. Was she happy right now? No. She really had fucked everything up. She even missed the funeral of the person that probably knew her the best, only so she could go and play edgy and get drunk and high with random strangers in bars. What a waste. Emily sighed and said in a defeated and low voice. "I just wish I was happy..." The tuning fork kept vibrating, a low hum echoing throughout her room. The noise worming it's way inside of Emily's head as she felt a wave of dizziness hit her like a truck. She was probably still really hungover...but the dizzy spell didn't vanish, it kept growing and growing as that vibrating hum got became louder by the second, drowning out any other noise. It spiralled around and around making it impossible to think or do anything but listen to the noise. Emily froze for a split second, her mind locked deep down in her subconscious. Suddenly a rush of pure euphoria overcomes Morgana. Her tired frown turns into a wide smile. A sense of deep pleasure and belonging surging through her. Everything simply felt so good. There was no reason to worry about anything anymore really. It was great! She found herself able to move again, that strange humming noise was gone. "Wow...I am so happy!" She laughed. She really did feel great. Everything would be fine, it would all work out. She would find a way to turn her life around one way or the other, and even if she wasn't able to do so that would be fine too. It didn't really matter which way life took her, she felt like she would be happy either way.

Filled with a sense of purpose Emily was left undisturbed for the rest of the evening by her parents. Unknowing as to the spell that had taken hold of their daughters mind. Emily went to bed and had perhaps the best nights sleep ever. Waking up well into the next day with a stretch and a yawn. Feeling great. "Mnnnn...wow I feel like a new person~" She walked downstairs and found a note on the table. She seems to have slept way into the day and both her parents had already head off to work. "Hey Emma, me and your dad chatted last night and you're welcome to stay for now. If you're planning on hanging around for longer this time we expect you to contribute to the household though. I'm going to talk to my boss whether there is some sort of internship you can get at the store. Otherwise you can start by doing some chores around the house. Your old clothes need washing and there are plenty of dishes to care for. It's good to have you back. Love mom. P.S Your older sister is coming to visit. She should be arriving early afternoon."

Wow! That was great. She always knew her mom was such a caring and loving person. How kind of her to let her stay. Emily grabbed some quick breakfast, although it was more like late lunch at this time of day, and started working on the chores her mom mentioned. Earlier she would have complained and groaned and not done the chores until the very last second, but now she felt herself doing them with ease. In fact it made her feel really good simply doing the chores. A deep sense of accomplishment filling her body. She went about the house trying to do as many helpful things as she could figure out. She brought out the vacuum cleaner and started hoovering the floor in the kitchen. Unknown to Emily her sister Max had helped herself inside of the house. The noise of the hoovering had drowned out the noise of the door opening. Max was a 25 year old woman who just passed her bar. She had begun working at a local law firm and was dressed in an immaculate suit. She had pale blonde, almost white hair tied up in a bun and was of very average build. There really wasn't anything remarkable about her body. Max winced from the loud noise of the hoovering. Her mother had given her a call and warned her that Emily was home...they had never really gotten along, at all. To her surprise however it sounded like Emily was actually doing something around the house. She turned the corner from the hallway and got into the kitchen, walking up to Emily and gently prodding her shoulder to get her attention.

Emily turned around in surprise. She smiled warmly as she noticed her sister and started talking, unable to even hear her own voice. She giggled and leaned down to turn off the vacuum cleaner, allowing the two to speak to each other. "Hey sis! What's up? I was just doing some chores around the house." Max looked at Emily with suspicion. This was very uncharacteristic of her sister. Was this simply part of some new strategy where she would pretend to be helpful so she could take advantage of their parents even more? Max wouldn't allow it. "Emily. I'm not sure what you're up to but I'm warning you, back off."

Emily looked genuinely surprised at this reaction. "Oh? What's wrong? I was asked to do some chores from mom so I decided to help out a bit around the house whilst they're at work." She smiled like some sort of awkward plastic doll, the memetic bliss still having a chokehold on her mind. "Okay...you're kinda creeping me out Emily...but fine. Whatever. I suppose it beats you coming here and trashing the place and then leaving. What's got you in such a cheery mood anyways?"

Emily pondered this question and then just smiled. "I just wish to be happy. You should too. Don't you want to be happy Max?" Max felt like someone had poured liquid boiling sugar into her ears, a ball of sickly sweet cotton candy spinning around in her brain as she was being lobotomized in an instant. A wide smile slowly spread across her face too as everything suddenly made perfect sense. It made her so happy to see her sister be happy. It was such a great gift to come home too! "I...yeah! I do want to be happy. Honestly it makes me feel great knowing you are feeling much better too. It's lovely to see you again Emily." Emily continued smiling and leaned in and gave her sister a big hug. "It's great to be back sis. I've never felt better." Neither of them had. The crippling waves of mind numbing pleasure had them under complete control, powerless to resist. Not like they wanted to either, everything was simply so great and wonderful. "Want to help me do some chores until mom and dad get home?" Emily asked. Max shone up with enthusiasm and nodded eagerly. "Yeah sure! Let's make the house spotless for when they arrive." The two of them spent the entire afternoon cleaning any surface they could get their hands on, getting ready for their parents arrival.

Do their parents arrive?
